awesome work PMG crew. Having direct control of the assembly process will make a real difference in prototyping, production quality, and should help the bottom line too. Dial that fucker in and pump out some 179s boyz!!

so i'm curious...does this significantly reduce the price of manufacturing skis, or at the very least allow you to make more?

    (cause that would rock)

Congrats guys. That's definitely a better option than the "fuck this, I'm over it route".

These cores are mine...all mine! Number 6 on the list! Prepaid and pre-stoked!

I love seeing where my FKNA skis are going to be made.

Thank God...NZ in less than 2 months. [Fingers crossed that my skis will be in my grubby little hands for the trip!]

Classic French translations. Someone screws that up and you'll be trying to slide around on topsheets.
At least Splat doesn't have to communicate in Quebecois anymore.

I feel damn lucky to know TeleRob. Just gotta say it. We go back about 15 years now and he's simply one of the most rock-solid friends I've ever had. When we first decided to make skis, Rob showed up and said "If you're going to make skis, I'm here to make sure you make a good ski." He went to Argentina to test them with me and then made endless trips to Hood with me to correct the mistakes of the nitwits at Slouch Snowboards who screwed up the cores. And then he shows up to rewire my garage and help me get the press running so we can get to making skis a couple days after I get out of the hospital, where I ended up after a wicked stomach infection. Aside from being one of the best tele skiers in the world - The Dude ROCKS.
Even if he totally kicked my weak ass trying to keep up with him while operating on one cylinder and a ton of oxy.

But it's not like we just start making skis. There's a shitload of prep still to be done on materials still to be obtained. The camber block in the press was designed for 15mm of camber. We have since lowered it to 5mm. We have one minor adjustment of no consequence to make on the top block and it's a go. We're a hair away from getting some additional financing to move into a bigger place, but until then, we'll crank out skis in the PM Gear World Headquarters garage. The fact that I've been in ski-building school for the last two years makes this effort easy and makes having spent the last winter in Northern Quebec totally worth it. Being able to step into a real ski factory and crank out skis was a definite feather in my cap of continuing edjucashun. Now it's time to take control of our destiny and I couldn't be happier. Even after eating it financially with two shitbag manufacturers lying to us and cheating us at every juncture, we perservered, and we will now do what we were always destined to do: make our own skis.

The concept of PM Gear from the beginning was to create a maggot company that would offer those involved a way out of less than desirable jobs and places where they live to be a part of the sport we love and eventually move production and housing close to the snow. That is our dream and we are one step closer. Thanks to everyone here.

We will strive to make you proud of what our little online community can do with all the good energy that resides here.
Again, thanks to all of you.

    Regarding our website...

We know, it sucks and is full of outdated information. We know that is a big problem for a company that only sells its products online. We're working on it and we've been avoiding updating the site until we can unveil the new one. We hoped to be futher down the line in this regard, but we've had to crush some henious :shudder: barriers to just keep making skis. Now that we've taken control of making the things, we need to take control over selling them.

Before the fall chill in is the air, we will have a new site that rawks. Until then, please bear with us. I'd also like to give you all a sneak peak at an upcoming surprise from us:

When our new site is released this fall and we start selling the 2006/2007 models, PMGEAR will officially announce the "BRO Hookup Plan". (Ok, just made that name up, but I'm very serious about the plan). This Hookup Plan will use the viral ( ), maggoty, networked nature of the skiing community to help everyone to afford our skis. Skiers love their gear and when they find something they love, they share the love with their bros. Good products spread through the skiing community like lice at summer camp. With our Hookup Plan, the more you share your love of our skis, the more PMGEAR hooks you up!

It's simple: we sell you skis, you spread the stoke, your skis get cheaper. When the time comes, I'll lay all of this out plainly.

Now... talk amongst yourselves. I'm off for a vacation so I won't be able to follow up to this post for 10 days or so. Ciao!

I need a CAD slave, McP. You wanna learn how to make these biatches?
Load your program to a laptop or an external and we'll look at the Bros files and start designing something new.

    Smile PR Angle for PMGear

    Tyrone Shoelaces/Splat,

Have you considered documenting each production step of how skis are made with photos and video to generate free publicity?

You could put the photos & video clip on your various webpages www.pmgearusa.com www.myspace.com/pmgskis etc.

Also, I think you have some good PR angles (other maggots probably can suggest additional angles) - see how skis are made, garage startup, American made, skiers bring passion to life, etc. that could be submitted as story ideas (see major ski resorts for examples of story idea webpages) to tv and radio stations, magazines and newspapers, etc.

    Google ski +"story ideas".

    www.jacksonhole.com/info/pr.story.asp
    http://www.skilaketahoe.com/press/pa...lease/733.html

As a lifelong skier, I have always been interested in seeing exactly how skis are made. A variety of companies have shared "making of" stories/photos to generate publicity. (Again, other maggots can suggest their favorite examples/website links).

    Damn thoughful suggestions, S4F.
Thanx for thinking enough of our effort to compile all the input.

There's probably a movie in it all, but TGR wouldn't let us put a PM Gear sticker on their Lear Jet, so it's back to Paramount.
If we don't like their planes, a webumentary would be cool.
