    She's too hot to die.

That's sad news on the other two fronts, though.

Oh shit....you know i was up at belleayre on sunday skiing that same trail with my son at about 2:50 PM when i saw a girl with her friend who had no business being on any trail except the bunny trail...she was out of control and kept falling and crashing into shit...at one point she fell and lost her skis and poles and my son and i picked her shit up for her and i told her she would probably be better off down at the lower lodge. Oh my God...do you think it was her? I feel like such a shit for telling her off...not that i was mean or anything...was just looking out for hers and other peoples safety. Damn...friggin' shame...i'll have to scan the local papers here on long island to see if there is a picture of her...i remember what she looked like...all make up and hair done up in a ponytail....shit....

Tonya Velasco, 19, was reported missing from the Squaw Valley Ski Resort after she returned her rental gear.

Velasco was supposed to meet up with friends at a charter bus to return to their hotel in Reno, but never showed up.

She was found in Truckee Monday, and authorities said no foul play was involved.
That must have been some "trip".

    KrisSkis-

here's another article with more detials - she was with a male snowboarder who was falling down a lot too -

but whatever, even if it wasn't the same person, you still did the right thing by suggesting someone go to a trail they can handle more easily, so don't feel bad about that.

I agree with skiguide, you did the right thing in suggesting she go someplace else.

Ski Guide....i got the paper this morning and it turned out to be another girl..not the one i spoke to. I sure feel bad for the family...i just wish people would stick to what they can do and not go overboard. I knew something was up that day...i was on the lower area lift with my 6 yr old and saw a crowd over by the trees and heard the ambulance sirens....damn shame.

Claudia Johnson, the woman who died at JH, was a student of a close friend of mine. I talked to my friend about it last night.

My friend taught at the Steeps camp last year, when Claudia went for the first time, I'm told she gave up a career back east, or at least put it on hold, to spend more time in JH and become a better skier. You know, following a dream, like most of us here.

She wasn't a rookie; this was at least her second steeps camp. My friend says Claudia was a strong to expert skier.

My friend was also there last year when Claudia skied Corbetts for the first time, and came off the mountain beaming.

Bad things aren't supposed to happen on bright and sunny days.
