Going on our third week without any snow accumulations over 1" how could it be possible to score some pow? Or even anything other than hardpacked bumps, tracked out tree runs, or sloppy 10ths in those "less" traveled areas?
I was greeted to this beautiful view as I opened the garage door and began shuffling through my gear:

The forecast........another seasonably warm and sunny day with no precip.
Not a big deal. A day spent in the mountains is a day spent with the gods! Today I was in the mood to do some exploring and find some new stashes. The car was loaded up with gear and I was on my way with that beautiful sunrise creeping up the horizon.
I found myself in a parking area not used by many others. The lightly used skin track from the parking lot was an old track covered from the light dusting (1") we had received several days ago.
There's something about venturing into new terrain, something that brings a feeling of rejuvenation and excitement. As I started my climb the sun was just beginning to rise over the peaks to the east of me.
The skin up was rather uneventful, but beautiful nonetheless. At treeline the sky opened up and the terrain in the forefront was untouched and glissening from the sun rays peaking through a few high clouds:

The tight chutes looker's left on the picture looked very inviting, but with no partner, and a rather unstable snowpack throughout the region the decision was pretty simple to stay away. I decided to stick to mellower terrain and enjoy the sunshine and the day. The snow was better than I thought it would be. I got turn after turn of "aged" boot deep pow. After a couple laps I retired and spent the rest of the day enjoying the weather with a beer in hand.
