call out to the tall folk here

are you in the same predicament as me? you love patagonia clothing, especially the jackets, but the dang things are just too short in the arms! i emailed them...........they said it would be considered to offer tall sizes in the future, but i wish the future was now. if you have a minute shoot them an email, maybe the more requests will = results.

Will do. They make some solid stuff but it dosen't fit me how I'd really like it. I'll shoot them one after work.

    Short Arms

Brand loyalty can be difficult when fit is an issue. Patagonia's tops have been cut to fit "normal sized" people from their inception and it would take a large number of requests for them to add another size to multiple styles. For those of us blessed with gorilla arms, arc'teryx and mammut provide ample coverage with jackets and insulating layers already.

I loved my Mountain Hardware jacket because of it's long arms. You could close the cuff over the top of your glove and not worry about it all day. I can't say the same for my Arc'teryx.

I'm 6'5'' and not that skinny (c. 185), and I totally agree that the stuff that's long enough is way too baggy. I'll definitely e-mail them.

    ah yes lanky brethren
all these companies seem to have high variability across their models = total crapshoot

Take cloudveil. L Koven pant is perfect for my svelte 6'3/185#, but the L zero g pant is voluminous at the waist (by a good few inches).

One notably long arm/trim torso non-ins softshell is the moonstone nordwand softshell. was on SAC for $85 a while back
I wear a L, and the arms are slightly LONG

to what addy did you email patagonia?

I don't even try anymore. I just walk around with my ankles and wrists exposed.

    It builds character.

I just buy one of the 1000000000 other brands of outdoor clothing.

Or if you want your stuff to really fit right, get them made to your size by someone like www.beyondfleece.com (fleece, softshells) or www.outaware.com (hardshells, fleece).

i will agree about the moonstone, bought a L shell, fits my 6-3, 185 just fine......found a patagonia shell which wasn't the best fit, but all their softshells and fleece do not work for me at all. as far as pants go, the arcteryx minuteman bib in a tall is the shitz.

For 30 years the joke has been that Y. Chinuard thinks he's a perfect "medium," but actually he is a really little guy. Who wants outdoor clothing with arms that are too short? I'm 6'5" and gave up on them years ago.

Sierra Trading Post has great deals on many top brands and they classify stuff for "tall men." I have always found good prices on everything from long underwear to gortex jackets and pants that fit if I'm willing to be a little patient.

I know Columbia is equvalent to dog sheeet around here, but I've bought their stuff over the years because they actually make a seperate size for tall people (and because I'm cheap). Their large - tall size jacket actually fit my arms, without all that extra volume in the torso.

I'm not even that tall (6'2"), and I quit wearing Patagonia years ago. Ahhh the patagucci people forget that not all of us are the same size as Yvon...

I've found Marmot to fit me very well and I have long arms and legs- not much torso

Bail on Patagonia and go with Mt. Hardwear or TNF. They aren't only for stunted runts.

I wear a 16.5 36/37 fitted shirt. Bought TNF Free Thinker shell last year in XL and about shit how long the sleeves are. Some Pat pieces fit longer in the arms than others, I have some of their jax that are alright. I have several short sleeve jackets that I go with as well, just avoid the problem.
