    TR: Weekend activities in Austria

Saturday: Girl's day out with visiting cousin.
We decided to go poking around the hills a bit to try and escape the heat. Sure enough it started raining. Careful not to break a nail now!

Any summit plans were quickly aborted as the snow was a rotten mess. So we just wandered around for a bit.

We eventually ended up cruising down what is liftserved terrain when the lifts are running. It cleared up enough to get rather sunburned.

Here I am concentrating very hard on trying to predict where the sticky spots are and thereby avoiding a faeplant onto my skitips.

    Last turns

    Some minor difficulties

Our tracks are somewhere in there

We then had a late afternoon break at the gondola station where a gentleman in a striking sleeveless one piece garment the colour of vomit asked us if we had done a “tour”. We confirmed this and he stated that “this surely is a great thing if one has the skill” He noticed that we had shovels and being aware, as we all must be, of the dangers of backcountry skiing and the great untamed power of the alpine wilderness around us, commented: “Ah, if you have to spend the night outside you can build an igloo!”.

On Sunday I decided it was time for my first hike of the year without skis. 8 or so hours, 2000m up and back down again. My legs were complaining somewhat about having to walk instead of ski down…
I have been thinking that with some snow this could potentially make an interesting ski pretty much to my front door.

Nice! I'm on a press launch in Neustift on Thursday. Don't think I'll have enough time to ski though...

Nice. I love Enzian. The flower and the schnapps.

    Nice Tee.

Next week, when I am in town for the W.C., I would love to make a short detour to Hintertux!

Yeah, I will be in Frankfurt, visiting my in-laws for the July 4 weekend. We will be attending the W.C. match on July 1. It's a very long shot, but I wouldn't mind making some turns on July 2-3. Prolly, not enough time.

    Sehr brav, Mädels!

However, I thought you were in South America this summer or am I mistaken? Anyway, nice TR. Reminds me a lot of what I did at this time last year with very similar conditions (though in Grindelwald, Switzerland).

Tux, Tux - ah, my ears ...

I think klar is German, but once they get addicted to the skiing they become one of our own ...
