Happy MLK Jr Day. Working sucks.

Yeah, for all y'all who are skiing on this fine holiday, you suck!!! I expect full reports!!! Cubicles on holidays suck!!!

And...knee/leg injuries suck, too!! It just needs some time I think, but it's annoying!!

Bah!! That's all I have to say. I feel much better now

Sucks for me. I sliced my finger open cutting an english muffin. 8 stiches, but my tendon was not damaged.

I am a breakfast jong today.

I heard a guy this weekend refer to today as "James Earl Ray Day".....about the most racist thing I think I've ever heard...

Um, Im in Utah. What is Martin Luthur King Jr. Day?? I do not like the fact that this state does not recognize this day more importantly.

Yes working on this day is not so fun. I work with federal/state/university agencies as well as large corporations across the country and no one is working. Im dead in the water. Good thing I got a doc appointment today so I can leave early.

I did have a killer time yesterday with a few buddies off the backside of Beaver Mountain, lots of vert and it was just us out there. Then I got home and the bug was not gone, so I hit my front yard for 4-5 runs and that was a blast as the snow was still 8-10" fluffy pow with a good base under, as it has not warmed up in the valley because of the inversion. Got air even!!

Back to data entry for today.

My company doesn't give us MLK Day off. We do get off the entire week between Christmas and New Years, so it's a little bit of a tradeoff. I think I prefer the full week, but that doesn't stop me from bitching about not getting any of the other hoildays off, as well

Regarding the knee/leg thing.....I was at Kirkwood this weekend, and the snow was okay, but a bit hard. This particular groomer run had lots of bumps on it, so of course it was a good opportunity to try and get what little air I could. But all of the sudden I felt out of controll and kept hitting up bump after bump, going faster than everyone around me, and my left leg started "yelling" at me...and by the end of the run it just didn't feel so good. I kept skiing, because last time this happened, I actually skied away the pain! .....That night, I was at my brother's b-day party, practicing some dance moves (heh), and all of the sudden there was pain telescoping through from the bottom of my knee, down through my shins. I know, not too descriptive, but nevertheless I was laying on the couch the rest of the evening. The next morning, my leg was fine, but I still felt it if I squated down or tried jumping, or anything besides normal walking. So I didn't ski on Sunday. History = I twisted my knee pretty good last summer backpacking, and I think it's re-appearing for this ski season. I believe it just needs some time = one week, and then I'm skiing next weekend again. Bah!!

At least yours recognizes it. Um, they close the Post Office on campus? "It's not a religious holiday". Though they do offer some lectures and such on the topic.

Though really, I'm not complaining. I would like to think that if I had the day off, I would somehow be observing it, but truthfully, I probably wouldn't.

At least they haven't promoted it as another big drinking day, a la St. Patrick's Day, Mardi Gras, and most recently Cinco de Mayo.

Whiners. I've had one day off in the last twelve months-- Christmas Day.

The trick is finding a job with a flexible schedule so holidays, weekends and workdays flow seamlessly together!

Heh, this is one of the few holidays my university recognises, and I think it's only because MLK is an alum...

Ha, ha. That was pretty damn funny. Yes, working does suck, but there are trade-offs. A floater holiday when there are blue skies (or not) and deep snow as opposed to blue skies and bullet-proof.
