Here in Portland we just had a fundraiser to build a BMX park. I don't ride BMX anymore so I don't know if the rules prohibit BMX in the skate parks, but if they need their own park I'd assume that's the case. We also have a shortage of skate parks here in PDX, so maybe they just want to pursue it as an angle to get more of any kind of park built.

I'm shocked that some of the skateboarders in the video are such dicks about sharing with the bikers. WTF? Is skating so Nike-fied that they forgot about the times, not long ago, that skaters had no legal place to ride? Sell out pricks.

Christ my eyes were bleeding watching that. That was me on a skateboard getting arrested for years for riding a freaking curb or a handrail outside a closed business.

Kings Beach in tahoe is planning on building a park and held some meetings for public input. I couldn't believe the bullshit I had to listen to about how bikes didn't belong. Pegs scraping concrete, riding too fast....unfucking real. Especially considering I've skated longer than half the morons in there and very clearly remember a time long before the era of public skateparks. It felt so wierd being in the middle of that crap since I'd want to ride both in any skakepark built.

    Skateboarders suck.

Where I live, BMXers helped build the local park in a massive volunteer effort. They were promptly banned as soon as it was finished.

I see them in there all the time anyway, and the skaters don't mind. After 9/11 the cops had better things to do. But there are still occasional crackdowns, and kids get arrested. This has been going on for years.
