    Look wide brakes?

Ugh bought Look P12's, supposed to fit 85mm fat skis, well they dont, shop called to tell me they didnt fit and I need the fat ones. Can I ask the shop to bend them to make them fit? or is that out of the question for their "ethical" practices?

Well if anyone knows a shop that carries Look wide brakes or has a pair in the Denver area drop me a line.

I've bent em out to 85mm waist no problem. The shop may be pussies about it, I'd push them on it rather than pay $25 for wide brakes.

you should be able to steal/borrow/hijack some rossi widebreaks f (100mm, fits 105mm skis) for 10bucks or so. fits the same.

Yeah they are for Head iM85's, which they supposedly should fit. I didnt even try when i got them, I just took'em to the shop. I imagine they must barely not fit, so probably dont have to bend them much. I guess I'll call the shop and tell them that I can't find them and see if they will bend them to fit.

I have some Rossi Power 140's mounted to my G4's (83mm waist). Rather than spend more $$$ on wide brakes, I just bent them myself. The brakes on Look/Rossi binders come off very easy, so if the shop won't bend them for you then do it yourself. It shouldn't take much effort unless the waist on your skis is greater than 90mm.

fak, talked to the shop. They said it is impossible to bend to fit the iM85 with the brake that came with. If anyone can find me a place to buy them online or has a pair for me greatly appreciated. All links that I found for Look wide brakes went to Backcountry store, which is out of them and the one shop that i found that has one wants $50.

    help me out

As previously mentioned I will bend anyone's look/rossi brakes for $20.

(or you can just have them not put on your brakes and do it yourself)

I had a shop try to do the same thing to me. They said my old look ZR's wouldn't fit my G4's. I bent the breaks myself and it worked perfectly. I just removed the brake, stuck it in a vice and slowly bent the brake arms. My brother took his AK Launchers (88mm waist) to another shop and they bent his ZR's with no problems. Your shop tech is stupid, lazy, or is trying to make some coin off you.

x thread post, but just in case you missed it

ah another case of ignorant shop fuckers. Went up to the shop, talked to the desk jockey in the back. He tells me "no we can't release these to you"
I say, "yes you can, i didnt buy them here and i will leave with them, wheather you like it or not"
Jockey "let me get the mounting guy"
    me"ok"

talk to the mounting guy, he tells me similar story. I tell him I am going to take it to my fried who has a machine shop (little white lie) and have him fix the breaks, if he wants i will bring them back when they are done and he can go over them. He agrees. I ask to see how much they are missing by when they are mounted. He brings them out, he had'nt even put the heel piece on yet. He puts it on and releases the break WELL WHAT DO YOU FUCKING KNOW, THEY FIT. They rub the edge a little bit, but i could bend it enough in the shop by hand to make it not touch. Shop guy sets them up, appoligizes for the Desk jockey fuck up and all the misdirection i was given by unqualified personel. I thank him very much and was on my way.

    thanks for the thoughts

always talk to the guy doing the work, not the desk jockey.

Sorry, I didn't tell ya in advance. I wasn't really thinking about it. I haven't had any problems with Christy's, but I prefer to get repair work done in a mountain town ski shop. I just know I will never get anything repaired, mounted, or tuned at B.S. Deals for various reasons.

Sounds like you guys have been able to bend the brakes out pretty far, but do you think it would be possible to bend them to a 95 waist?

Really depends on how effective (iow deep) you want the brakes to be. It's almost certainly possible, but the brakes won't work very well. Good and bad.

this is a pic of the brakes on my iM85's, not bent from the way they came from the factory. As you can see they rub the sidewalls. You be the judge if you think you can bend them to accomidate another 10mm. I would say yes, but you are going to have to do some work yourself or contact MonsterDump. He says he'll modify it for you for $20.

These are salomons bent to 92mm and still work well. I had to lower the plastic feet a little bit then epoxy them on becaue of the length you give up by bending them.

When I bent the standard brakes out to fit my Pistols (95mm waist), I just bent them once, none of this "heating and trying to get them to actually work" business. Just bend em and go. They rubbed the sidewalls a bit. I'll never crash hard enough for them to come off on snow that'd be hard enough for them to go anywhere.

My problem has always been crashing hard on a lil bit of soft (6''-1') and the ski submarining... i always hope that the brakes will grab the hard stuff underneath...

    never seems to work though.

While reading this post I knew you had to be talking about Boulder Ski Deals. And the worst part I bet I could guess which dumb fuck it was behind the desk too. Just be happy they had your paper work and were able to find your skis when you went in.
