'03 Rossi 140 race bindings - are they any good

As the title says - are these bindings any good? I'm thinking about using a pair on some goats, but I know very little about them - except they ain't much chop with alpine tourers. Does any body have any experience with them? And can I remove the brakes to put wide ones on? or is bending them the only option, All help much appreciated. Cheers

I think this is the same as the Look 9.0... Pretty much a P14 but you have to do the bendy. Good binding anyway.

I have a pair on my G4s. It's an excellent binding. Same as DIN 14 Looks, just different graphics.

That's good news. Are there any special techniques for bending brakes. I understand that there's the potential to break the retraction mechanism/housing. Owww, I don't want to do that...

If by "also" you mean the one I was talking about, then yeah, that's it.

You could do that OR you could just buy a set of wide brakes. The bindings in Slim's thread and the Rossi 140s are totally different. Slim's bindings are race stock and based on an older design.

My preference is to put wider brakes with the binding and hopefully I can, but I won't find out what I can and can't do until next week when I get them. I'm glad to hear they are worth putting on though and I'm prepared to 'operate' on the bindings if need be. Thanks for all the help. I'll post the results.

The conclusion - Rossignol now use a larger more sturdy "latch" to join the brakes to the binding. So new brakes don't fit 2003 bindings. This meant I had to bend the old brakes which was actually a synch. Instead of pulling them apart to do it I managed to get one of the steel arms under the foot pad into a vice. I could then bend the brake arm it was attached to.

I did, however, need to use a spacer to sit on top of the vice. I used a steel rod about 5mm wide. I needed this because the brakes sit to high in the vice. I then took my trusty length of steel pipe, slid it over the brake arm I wanted to bend and bent it flat.

Repositioned the the brake in the vice I re-bent it to the new wider width. I found that each bend takes up 5mm. So I subtracted that from each side when I measured the finished width. 20 Mins of work and they look like new. Thanks for all of the advice on the way, much appreciated.

You needed the standard P-series brakes and not the current PX ones. Anybody here could've told you that. Anyhow, you got the bent brakes to work. Good job.
