    Mini TR: The Great One

My friend Jeff called my Saturday nite around 10pm and talked me into skiing the great one in the Bridger Range north of Bozeman. The plan was we drive up to Fairy lake, hike an hour or two to a chute dubbed 'The Great One', ski back to the car, then one of his friend's girl friends would shuttle the car to the bottom and we would ride 5 miles of down hill single track on the mountain bikes. Sounded good, but we found the road gated 3 miles from the trailhead. So we walked, and no mountain bike downhill for us...

    Hiking up:

The Great One comes into view (it's the wide slash on the lookers left ridge)

    Almost there

    Getting into it

    Jeff get'n some:

Waiting on those damn AT skiers as usual

    Down to the lake...

    Nice.
I've had to sideline that trip we discussed until I get home, talk to some editors, and get ski production all lined up.
    Sorry for the false start.

    What a damn ugly place.

I spent a fair bit of time up there in the old MSU days. Fun times.

I was up there last weekend biking around, although just on the road, I didn't know that there is a singletrack trail down from the lake. Anyway, I hear that the road is getting opened up this weekend.
