    Arrow RIP Hans Thorner 1908-2004

Hans Thorner, age 95, passed away on December 27, 2003. He was born in Einsiedeln, Switzerland on July 2, 1908 and came to this country in 1932.

Hans was in the first class of Certified Ski Instructors in the United States of America having been previously certified in Switzerland. During the 1940’s he owned and operated the Thorner House in Franconia, NH. It was an inn of some renown and one of the first in this country where you could ‘ski all the way home.” He also ran the Hans Thorner Ski School on Cannon Mountain. Mr. Thorner filmed the 1948 Winter Olympics and went on to make ski movies for Swiss Air. Hans dreamed of a Swiss village at the base of a mountain and in 1960 he realized the vision by founding Magic Mountain in Londonderry, VT. The Thorner family operated Magic Mountain over the next quarter century.

Hans Thorner is survived by his wife of 70 years, Florence Harriman Thorner, and two sons; Arthur of South Berwick, ME and Peter of Londonderry, VT. Hans also had six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

    Thread hijack (cool pic, though).

I just heard that Killington is refusing to sell a lift ticket of any kind (including season pass) to a 92 year old who was a trainer of the 10th Mountain Division. Anybody hear about this?

why? Are they afraid he's gonna kill himself/somebody else? Do they think old people can't handle themselves or something?

My friends grandfather just turned 90 and the guy bought himself a new snowmobile (he already had one, but wanted a new one! )

Let these old guys have some fun, they sure as hell deserve it.

Lemme know if you hear more on that, Benny. Sounds newsworthy.
