My access to TGR has just died. It was a '98 Acer Pentium2 with a 2Gig HD running about 166MHz. It was slow but it gave me access to this place and let me edit pictures. Does any kind soul have a retired laptop gathering dust in the corner. I am mobile all summer but have access to mains power and wireless adapter. I thought I'd try putting a shout out here before resorting to the UK second hand market and spending $300 on something almost as outdated. I am more than happy to cover shipping and beer to give a late 90's machine a retirement home.

I had a '98 thinkpad with a pentium 2, I haven't seen it for a while, if no one pitched it out it's yours, I'll look for it tomorrow. It needs a new battery, though.

I have an Apple iBook (G3 processor) which died a little while ago. Don't know how dead it is - if you want to try to get it working you're welcome to it provided you let me copy all the photos on the hard drive which I hadn't backed up at the time it broke

I found that computer, sounde like the ibook would be a lot better machine if you can get it working, but you can have this one if you want. I think it's just a Pentium, not a Pentium 2, though, and it does need a battery if you want to use it unplugged at all. Let me know if you want it.

iceman, I may still want that machine if I can't get a hold of skievil or mtnlion. Arno I'd love to also try to fix your g3 if I can work outb how to get a hold of it.
