You don't need anything special to do that other than a decent mountain sled with a good powder track. There used to be races across the columbia river in town. They'd start on an old ferry landing and rip across. Occasionally one would sink and divers would go tie a rope to it so it could be hauled up. They still race across Kootenay lake in Nelson every summer. When they sink the owner usually has it running in a matter of a few minutes once they are back on shore.
