Any thoughts on these skis?

As i explore fat skis for my first truely fat ski when I go out to BC next year I came acrossed these and I like how they sound. 192cm 133mm 103mm 119mm. Any experience with these skis? I have a decent/strong race background, 6'1" 160lbs but I ski really agressively and I've been lifting everyday since the skiing dried up here. Still I think I would go with the medium flex as everyone says the stiffs are pretty intense. I do like somewhat turny skis, the calculator put this at 31m which sounds pretty like it has a little more sidecut then your average pow ski at this waist.

This would pretty much be my only ski above 80mm that I own. So I want something that would pretty much be good all around.

Cap reviews are all over the place as far as getting them to build you what you ask for, re iggyskier and his el jefe.

As for a production ski you could just buy anytime for cheaper, maybe also consider the ANT or VCT, which I think next year is the 193 EHP, although thats a significantly different ski. Do a search on Line 06/07 lineup or something. Also maybe even the mojo105 when it comes out next year depending what they do.

Also if you have the cash, iggies seem popular or get a DP from marshal.

I've seen a few Cap reviews on here after searching, just not of this specific ski. I know they are made well, despite perhaps some minor topsheet blems, but judging how this ski performs based on other Cap models would be like reading Mantra reviews before buying a Gotama.

These are $710 when you convert the 800 Canadian to US. So that puts it in production ski price range for the most part. I'm not too sure I'd like the Mojo's or ANTs since for the most part are jibsticks (minus the supermojo) meaning the chord center is just weird if you mount them back where you'd want for an all mountain board. The EHPs and VCTs don't seem like an everyday ski either.

A few things on the Capitals
1) Expect charges something like 7% tax, $40 CDN for shipping and UPS charges another 20-30 US for taking the skis accros the border, so expect to spend ~$810US + international wire fees ($40 US at my bank) or money order fees (which are hard to do in CDN)

2) Expect a very, very, very long wait, order them like today.

3) The BMC's I have in a stiff are awesome sks. But they are not turny at all. As you said this may have little baring on the one's you want, but isn't 31m fairly far from turny, slalom skis are 12m - mantras which are turny have a radius if 23.2 for th 177's I skied (and hated because they were turrny)

Im not comparing the review of the ski, but rather you may not get the ski built how you want it built, ie too stiff etc. That was my point

By cheap, I mean $300 NOW for either of those skis used without a wait and customs and hidden fees. It seems to me there are more than just a few who have mounted the ANTs back and love them everyday.

For what you described, an EHP/VCT seems like it would work fine everyday.

Might I also suggest a 188 Bro, dont know if it classifies as turny though.
Even maybe a SethVicous.

having said all that, I have no experience on any of those skis, Im just going by what Ive read here from people who have. Although, Ill be on some Bros next year after I breathe some life back into them \ give them TLC.

About the turnyness. Turny for what it is, I guess is the way to put it. From what I've seen you don't see much below 28m for pow skis (besides the mantra perhaps) so I figure the 31m that the radius calculator estimated for the Fat Free's sounds good. I know its gonna be fat ski, but i want to be able to lay the ski over, juice it, and feel it carve across the fall line and shoot into the next turn. That is what is throwing the EHP out since I believe it has some rocker camber. 188 Stiff Bros are definitely being strongly considered aswell.

As far as the extra costs from getting Caps from BC, I'm gonna be in BC by September, so I imagine I can have them sent to me at school.

I'm riding and highly recommend the Nordica supercharger blower. 193cm, 139/110/129, 29-30ish radius. Pretty close to your ballpark there, just a little longer (I understand Capitals are small for their length). Could be worth a look. It isn't turny, but doesn't require too much muscle. It has soft tips, but is actually quite a stiff ski underfoot. Therefore turn initiation is easy, but it's really stable and for some reason faster than any other ski I've skied. This way you get a factory ski from the shop. It's built in the elan factory in a very similar way to the 777, which is to say very solidly. It's my everyday ski.

I skied a 188 vers most of the year. I ordered it cuz no one made a 25m turn rad, soft to very soft flex, 190ish, ski that would be durable. Capital made that for me.

Loved it so much that girlguide got a pair of full customs made just for her. kind of made like a 170 EHP from 4frnt. As a heli guide, she is a strong skier to start with, but this took her 20% faster in all terrain. makes me want a EHP for next year, and respect for greg at capital for his knowledge to make skis work for the skier.

Lots of nice skis around, but if you can't find what you want from the rack, and know what you do what, he can make it happen.....
