    Snow beta for Pfeifferhorn...

Looking for beta on the remaining snowpack on the pfeifferhorn. Don't care so much if the NW couloir is skiable (assuming it's not)- more concerned about approach up east ridge, snowline going in from White Pine (and therefore heading back out too...) Thanks in advance for any help.

You have to admit, when you first get here, the term 'summit' is a bit confusing. why isn't there a forum for peak bagging?

you should post your question in ski/snowboard, freebird.

    It's (snowpack) is going fast.
    Mermorial Day pic

Went up Soli to Twin Lakes yesterday. Had to hike Sunrise. Snowline about Summit lift. (9000'). Only a slight ribbon of snow left of Highway to Heaven traverse. Still pretty good coverage in Wolverine Cirque, Patsey Marley, Figure 8, and Twin Lakes.
    Corner Chute /Headwall Soli.

    Twin Lakes

    Wolvie

I would consider coming in/dropping back to/from the bird to avoid bushwhacking.
Edit; I did score/find 2 ganja smoking implaments, 3 fog cloths, $2.37 in change, a cellphone, a nalgene, and a Cannon Sd memory card, Pm me if you can use the card, its yours.

    Thanks for the pics...

I was considering taking the hiking trail up through Red Pine and then up and over the ridge to the east ridge of... Do you still think Snowbird is the better approach route? Taking the tram and ridge traversing sure would save a ton of vert... might be a bit more 'sporting' though.

Out of curiosity, what is "summits" supposed to be about if it's not about the "summits" of mountains?

Oh and thanks again for the beta of Soli and Wolverine, we'll definitely keep Wolverine on our to do list this week. I honestly didn't think it would even have that much left... Glad to see.

I wish i would have worn my hiking boots for the dirt hike up to summit, dealing w/ foot issues today. I myself would rather skin than carry skis on my back. Going from the bird means less bushwhackin. Probably head up to Wolvie this weekend. Got a late start yesterday so snow was a little manky. And I was solo so I didn't ski anything to radical. Was surprised at the coverage myself.
Summits as in maggot get togathers.

Start from WP, not the Bird. It's less than 4k of hiking to the summit.

But that said, traversing from the Bird would be fun, and you could ski Red Baldy on the way over, and link up White Baldy too.

    have fun.

Where's the snowline at heading in from WP? How far up trail?

Linking White and Red Baldy does sound pretty damn tempting...

In the beginning (circa 2001) the maggots figured it was about time to get together and meet offline. They met here in Utah and called it the Powder Maggot Summit. I've got the sticker to prove it. Since then, anytime more than a small handful of maggots have gotten together it's called a Summit or a Mini-Summit.

And Skifishbum - thanks for the beta shot of Wolvie. I've never skied it and I think Saturday morning will do just fine. Then I'll plug some gear into rock in the mid day. I should round out the day with a round of golf in SLC
