    Windoze XP Pro help...

Have XP Pro on my home computer.

Have a cousin of mine living in my basement, and using my computer. His email of choice is Hotmail. Everytime he checks his email, then logs off which ever user profile he has chosen to use that day, a message is on the profile screen saying "___ new email messages in blahblahblah@hotmail.com"

For some reason it really pisses me off that it shows up...can you turn that function off? Whenever I have checked a yahoo account, g-mail, etc on my computer, I am never left with this type of message, but for some reason the a hotmail account 'reports' or whatever... What can I do to get rid of that?

Hotmail is owner by Microsoft so they have put the hooks into the OS to report the number of messages (AOL does this too).

There are a couple of solutions- one is to switch to traditional log-in- you just have a Username and password box like older Windows 2000 machines had.

If you want to leave the screen with the listed users but just remove the Email notification then you have to have some technical capabilities and follow this Microsoft article to remove the permission manually. (In the registry)

I get that for my profile. The thing that really chaps my ass though is that when I go in to check, there is no email! Drives me crazy!
