While I share much of the same beliefs and concerns as Moore, it scares me how much people love to defend this guy.
Couldn't have said it better. My exact sentiments. Like I said earlier, it would be so damn easy to produce a neutral factual documentary about the leadup and progress of Iraq war, get it advertised bigtime so people start talking and the administration still looks like the absolute trash they are. By going over the top the way he did and pulling cut-and-paste fact conspiracies out of thin air, all he did was give the right cannon fodder to slice his crediability out from under him. He let his anger and greed get the best of him.

Look at the documentary "Baghdad ER" on HBO. You sit all your friends around the tube to watch that and I guarentee you some thoughts change whether this war has been worth it or not.
You mark that frame an 8, and you're entering a world of pain.

Syprik, Frontline has done multiple programs on the lead up the Iraq War, to little fanfare outside of PBS’ core audience. These days you’re not going to break through the clutter unless you play-up the sensationalism and rhetoric.

Unfortunately bad shit happens in wars because decisions are made instantly under the most extreme stress and having not been under that stress you can never understand it!
It's hard to judge your stance on this, but are you in someway backing the soldiers' actions in Haditha? It seems so given the way you took offense to someone commenting about it (regardless if they know what combat stress is or not). Have you seen the preliminary evidence brought forth? Everyone, including the military, knows its an utter mess created by only a few. If I have a military background family, have two friends over there now who are in constant comm with me and lost a close child-hood friend in April (Cpt. Tim Moshier (age 25) - his Apache shot down- has brought me much suffering), is my opinion not worthy to someone such as yourself to "partially" understand the stress they undergo after listening to endless first hand accounts? I follow Iraq very closely and Haditha is not at all representative of the way our military should and does carry itself. There are many other troops over there going through the same stress and anxiety, but are professional and mentally controlled enough to not go a-wall on two dozen civilians. Not that it's a bad trait, but it's typical of folks who've served and are serving to back your brothers up no matter how dire the situation looks. But after all the info that has surfaced, this one I wouldn't touch with a 10ft pole (ex. Abu Ghraib). If you are prepared to give those guys benefit of the doubt because you've experienced combat stress and understand it first hand, and know that the muderous actions of those few have impacted the good of many, then you are misguided and are handing out a free-pass card to some weak sauce soldiers. If not the case, which I assume is so, disregard my comments.

Lame duck is more like it. But, I don't totally disagree with you. Anyway, isn't this thread about Michael Moore?

Well, it started out being about some a-hole trying to make a fortune because Mike used footage of him in his movie, but I think that topic's been buried under a few pages worth of shit by now.

I disagree. Much more scrutiny will be placed on his presidency when he is no longer in office and no longer commander in chief.

Summit, you're either being obtuse or your Republican dial is turned up so high that your mind has shut down. Where, exactly, did I say that I agree with what MM did/does? All I'm saying is that Bush did/does the same shit (twist the truth to suit his wants) and Bush's actions carry much more severe consequences. Yet, here you are, supporting Bush and condemning MM.

Dude, you gave me some good AT advice, so I'll give you some, don't bring the level of discourse down to that of four year olds shouting "I'm smarter than you!!!" Sure, we insult one another with alarming frequency in here, but do it by calling them an asshole, you know, like an adult.

Thanks for the advice. It wasn't really an insult so much as a fact . But I got it now; profanity-adult and mature, commenting on someones intelligence-immature. Will do. And I gave you good AT advice? Man, I rarely give good advice to anyone on anything. All you guys must be rubbing off on me, thanks

That asshole is a VETERAN THAT LOST BOTH OF HIS ARMS DEFENDING US ALL. Moore misrepresented his image and what he was actually saying in that clip. So the next time you touch your wife, take a piss, comb your hair, hold your childs hand. Remember that this SOLDIER you call asshole cannot. Shame on you

sorry teej, that dog won't hunt. Being a vet and being an asshole are not mutually exclusive of one another.

Teej, you might want to use some logic in those statements, sure it's emotionally charged subject, but don't base your argument off feeling.

I made the same assumption you just did. I'm hardly supporting Bush. Just pointing out that Moore's actions are not A-OK just because Bush is pulling shit (which is what I assumed you were saying).
