mt bohemia TR with actual pics!!

After two kick ass days up at bohemia friday and tuesday I finally got my friend to remember his camera and we got some pics today.

Friday was awesome with about half of the mountain open. About shin deep to knee deep in places pow all over the mountain however it was very rocky, took a few coreshots but they were well worth it. Only crappy part of the day was getting into a fender bender in my buddys blazer on the way home in calumet.

Got up to Bohemia on Tuesday thinking it would be ok but not as good as friday since they had only reported 4 inches of new snow. It quickly became obvious that this was an understatement as boot deep to sometimes knee deep freshies were had all day. I am pretty much a powder JONG since I havent had to many powder days and this is my first season with a bohemia pass. I could almost feel myself progressing throughout the day with each run, which was pretty cool. The Beast opened for the first time this year and legit knee deep pow was had for a few runs there. Skied until 2:30 then booked it to Ripley to work from 4 to close.

Which brings us to today, picked up friends around 9:30 and headed up to bohemia again not expecting much as they were only reporting 2 inches new. Again suprised with a few more inches than reported and along with all the powder from the last few days made for about boot deep powder all day today.

Now for the pics, I never really realized how hard it was to get good skiing pics. Me and my friends are pretty crappy at taking pics because we spent a good chunk of time today trying to set up decent pics but pretty much failed horribly.

start out with a nice scenic pic of lac la belle and superior from mt bohemia

some of the glades in "bohemia bluffs"

another non-action shot, some more nicely spaced glades

buddy rippin up the trees, or at least it looked like it for 1/30 of a second.

and yours truly about to rip the shit out of that little shrub.

buddy in some interesting terrain, we tried to get some video here but it didnt really work out.(the little drop and the video)

and the last one is sort of a wheres waldo shot, if you look closely you can see my head and me flipping off the camera. The plan was for me to come rippin around the little patch of trees and get some sweet shots but my buddy didnt want to take his gloves off because it was about 5 degrees and ended up not being able to hit the button on the camera.

The [reverb]EXTREME!!![/reverb] backcountry was open today to guided tours by the ski patrol but we were having enough fun skiing the rest of the mountain that we didnt bother hunting down a patrol person.

Nice, I've always wanted to see more info on bohemia being from the midwest parts. The only opened after I left.

Nice to see a report rr. I've been lurking Bohemia's website for several weeks, waiting until they get more snow and terrain open. That place really needs a pretty good base before you can ski there without completely wasting a pair of skis.
I'll have to schedule a day up there soon -- hmmm, maybe this weekend....

This weekend would probably be a good bet, looks like the backcountry is open 100 percent now. Yesterday I barely hit any rocks and really didnt get any damage that was too bad. But the forecast is still looking sweet and as long as it stays cold i'm sure next week will be just as sweet. I cant make it up most weekends because I have to work but bohemia on weekdays is awesome, it has to be the closest experience to having your own private mtn that you have.

Now I am convinced that I need some fattys, was riding the shuttle yesterday with people with PRs, seth pistols, karhu jaks...hard to believe i was still in MI.

My brother was up there over new years with his Iggies, but due to a lack of snow I don't think they made it off the roof rack. Glad the peeps in the 26th are finally getting some.
