    Adding Cruise Control (NSR)

Does anyone know how difficult it would be to add cruise control to my truck? I have a Ford Ranger with a standard transmission, 2.3L 4 cylinder. I've snooped around and found the parts online for ~$200-250. Is this something I could do myself or is it best left to a professional (I don't want the throttle getting stuck open because I fucked up some minor detail)?

Or, should I just steal a brick and put it on the gas pedal?

my car's cc was aftermarket...and it sucks balls.

if you try to set it for any speed over 65, it just floors it. i let it run once, on the freeway...it was over 100 and still creeping up when i finally got scared and turned it off.

i'm thinking a shitty install is the culprit, it was on the car when i got it.
    focus.

I did it to a car long long ago; it wasn't difficult. Since it's an option on almost everything these days some of the backets to attach the throttle cable are already in place. The tough part is the speed sensor which is some magnets stuck to the driveshaft and a sensor to detect them. If the sensor is too far away then you can get a runaway like Mustonen. With a standard you also need a switch on the clutch pedal so when you push in the clutch it disconnects. You also splice into the brake switch for the same reason.

Cruise control is less useful on standards because it can't downshift on hills.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

If you swap on a factory CC, outta another Ford. Get a complete unit from inside controls to engine controls. No worries. should be realtively easy. Most aftermarket CC's suck. A good one or OEM should be controlled either by vaccuum or electronically off trans. Lube you throttle linkage while you're at it.
