Another choice for pricey rooftop bar in the Penntop bar at the top of the peninsula hotel in midtown (around 55th and Madison) Some cool views and a better crowd than Gansevort.

Personally my favorite is` a sixer of budweiser a beach chair the roof of my walkup.

Oh, and I still vote for DeLancey Saturday night.

they don't have pbr within spitting distance from my apartment and brooklyn lager doesn't go down quite as well on those hot days so these days its the "king of beers"

    I second Delancey

I'm calling it for the Delancey this Saturday night @ 9:30 PM. Meet on the roof unless it's raining. You all know what I look like, so come ask for change.

I'm not sure exactly when we'll be done with dinner, so that time may slide slightly. PM with cell#s and you'll be the second to know.

I'll be around for several days, so if you can't make it then (*cough*trayc), further celebrity sightings can be arranged.

    ---

H&H or Ess-a-bagel are on the list, depending on where we go first in the morning. I like the bridge walk to Grimaldi's idea. Will definitely take the woman up the Empire State Building. Thanks for all the help so far.

Not much to add it seems, but Big Onion Tours are a great way to see the city. http://www.bigonion.com Tours run by PHD candidates from the local universities.

Also, if you are thinking of biking, Central Park is very nice and you can rent cruisers near the Boathouse. Boathouse is also a very nice place to take the ladyfriend for drinks on a lazy summer afternoon while walking to the Met or the Guggenheim. Big loop in Central Park is 6 miles and it will give you a good workout.

West Side Greenway is also nice way to see the city. You can start at Battery Park City and ride all the way up to 200th street on bike paths which run parallel to the West Side Highway. TacomaLuv mentions 125th street, but keep following the signs and you can get another 4 miles of upper Manhattan (up to 200th Street and Inwood). I live in Washington Heights (184th street) and I think the neighborhood is awesome. Mucho Dominican. Fort Tryon park is great with nice views of the Hudson.
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

I'm around, weekend days are tight this month. I can make it to delancy sat night, but have a full day on sunday. If you decide to walk over the bridge to the pizza place, I will meet you. During the week I can probably hang out more, except tues night unless it's late.

    just a thought...

not to throw a wrench in this whole plan. but the last time I was at The Delancey a drink cost me $10 and then the third one I had was $14, I asked the bartendress what was going on and she said "happy hour's over..."

I think we should all meet at the hat on the corner of ludlow and stanton for to-go margaritas and then see where the night takes us, as in, roving the streets canned on crackaritas from the hat.

All beer has its place, and on a hot roof in the middle of the summer listening to a ballgame on the radio its Bud. Go hate in someone else's thread.

Don't remember the drinks being that expensive.....I'm up for heading wherever

Absolutely, me too, and it's not like we're not surrounded by 200 other bars in that vicinity if we want to hit something else.

    Ahh!! Not the hat!!

At least, not the hat for food.

I'll see everyone at 9:30 at Delancey. Mets game sounds like a way more fun way to spend the afternoon than the 16mi training run I'll be doing.

Stu: How do you get above 125th on the Wside Highway? I always dump into that parking lot and then run out of trail... do tell more...

Have you had the crackaritas!? You would not say such harsh things about the hat if you've ever imbided....

Roving is good, especially if Delancey gets too expensive or crowded -- once we've got a posse together. But it sounds like a great place to meet and get started.

TacomaLuv made a good point, which is that if the rooftop fills up or we rove and miss latecomers, we'll need cell #s. I've got a few of yours...please share with me and amongst yourselves.

Ugh, the husband informed me that we have a graduation party that afternoon in mid-Connecticut...but if I can hustle us outta there before six we should still make it.

I'll exchange cels w/ a few of ya so I can track youse down if we are late.

9:30? Why so late? anyone want to put their drinking hats on earlier? Preferably someplace cheap, like a rooftop and a case of beer?

Because I've got a very busy day of traveling, rental car returning, hotel checkin, etc., and can't guarantee we'll actually make it there before then. Feel free to call a pre-game anywhere you want!

Bummer we could not make it...horrible traffic driving back from mid-CT. We didn't get home until 9pm & by then didn't want to trek into the City.

Where else did you hit besides Delancys?

It was great to meet Spats and gf, Plakespear, Cubuck, TrayC, Tacomaluv, and hit a whirlwind of bars on saturday night. Some advice for everyone out there: DO NOT FUCK WITH TACOMALUV'S LIFTED TACO. I learned that quickly, respect. I hope this trend of maggot bar sessions continues through the summer.
