let me tell you something about racism in the real world. I saw this in a column I read about ten years ago and it's sooo true:

a person who is truly racist would be proud of it. therefore it really does no good to call someone a racist. either you're wrong, or you're complimenting them.

That said, this thread is frickin' hilarious. and if I'm a racist to say that, then I'm not sure that I *want* to be non-racist.

They're fuckin high school kids. They're impressionable.
Kids will be kids and, given that, the crux of the racist arguement is whether the adults getting such a kick out of this are white and seeking to make themselves feel better by laughing at the kids because they're black. I posed my question only for some people here to perhaps examine their own reasons for posting ridiculing comments. I think there are some closet racists here who would argue to the contrary until they were blue in the face to keep from outing themselves. If you're not one of those adults, neither mrw's nor my comments should offend you.

I live in a very white and generally lower middle class place, and, I tell ya', watching the boys and girls go into the City Center for their prom a few weekends ago was quite a sight. High School is an amazingly awkward time. The problem is, it lasts a long time for a lot of people.
