    I've run Class III with mergansers before, and hit a dead moose lodged under a strainer, but that's amazing.

    That's a heinous drop, and the site of a fatality of a local boater who swam there a couple years back. What you don't see in the deer photo is the river right rock at the base of that drop (hence the name 'Big Splat') where all of the water is pushing you towards.



    edit: the deer ran a sieve just lookers left of this photo, directly behind the big splat rock.
