    B.C./Alberta suggestions needed

So in 2 weeks I am packing up and driving from Jackson back to Cape Cod. Since I am totally over the whole I-80 route, I figured I'd detour north and drive through canada, stopping to see some cool nature along the way.

Any suggestions for things that might still be skiable in interior BC and the Canmore/Banff area?

    Thanks in advance

Going north from Jackson? Rossland and Nelson lower trails are pretty much drying out for mountainbiking. Fernie is lower so I'd imagine that's the case too. You'd want to head high which might mean going up through forest service roads or highways to places like Salmo-Creston and Rogers Pass= but there will be a lot of bushwhacking.

I'd suggest heading over to the Icefields Parkway and doing some spring traverses on the Wapta Icefields - particularly good now.

If Highwood Pass is open drive that route to Canmore and check out the spring skiing there.

Maybe some Albertan's will chime in - also check on ttips where there's an active Albertan bc contingent

Stupidly warm weather for the last couple of weeks, mntlion made an attempt at something along the Icefields parkway a couple of weeks ago and couldn't get by the creek. I'm sure there's something to ski out there, but it's not likely to be easy access. The highway over Highwood pass should open on June 15th, but again the temps may have killed that.
I'll let someone who hasn't been in bike mode for three weeks chime in, though.

If you're packing a sled there's shit piles of touring to be had in BC right now. I'd take you out and show you some but my sled expired this spring and I haven't the $1000ish to get it running again. There is lots of snow up high still but it has been meting quickly of late. Rogers Pass should still have some good touring accessable from the road.
    You are what you eat.

Banff-Golden, still has lots to do. Some hiking may be involved on some routes to get to the snow line but still lots of touring to be had right from the car. K-Country still has snow clos to the road, Icefields good, Lake Louise good.

Pretty warm right now but skiers-mountainers waiting for the next cold cycle.

Looks like this weekend we will see snow and cold temps thus recovering the iso-snowpack. Early next week looks good for turns. Otherwise it comes in cycles and you have to be here when its time.

There are some glaciers in K-country near Canmore that might be good. You'd probably have to hike the first bit though. A pretty common route is French-Haig-Robertson. Snowbridges might be a concern.

I may chime in to say that you should watch out for bears at the lower elevation. You don't want to be their source of vitamins A, B & C.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Sounds like I will be able to find some things. Mostly I'm stoked just to check out the scenery in the area and get a few turns along the way.
