maybe we should try pics looking down the spine from the rider's point of view?
and Skiguide, 6:30 it is. see ya there!

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Friday evening is the Super D race at DV, so no Crest for me.
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow, what a Ride!"
skiguide - PM sent.
Do you need a pit crew?Originally Posted by altagirl

I don't think so (hopefully I won't need to stop for food and water or anything in a 10 minute race.Originally Posted by InspectorGadget

I believe so. Super D is just on Deer Crest - starts in the DH start gate at the top of the lift, down the gravel road, under the bridge, left onto a trail and then onto Deer Crest all the way down to the finish line.Originally Posted by InspectorGadget

It doesn't look like there's a beginner class for old farts in Super D.![]()

There aren't enough people that race Super D yet so no regular classes - just age groups and pro or amateur. Do it anyway!Originally Posted by InspectorGadget

Ok. I'm back from Hood River (and itching to ride, so bad). I can do a Crest ride on Friday if anyone is in, I haven't read through a lot of this so I'm not sure who is riding or not.
I'll be doing a quick Quarry after work tomorrow(thursday) if anyone can make it around 5:30ish.
Oh, and Hood River is the coolest.
you sketchy character, you
I'd be up for the Crest on Friday as long as I can't find any pads and a full face helmet to wear in my first ever Super D race.
Anyone, anyone . . . .
And the Quarry trail with Lynx, skiguide and Skiingbear was great fun tonight. Thank you all.

How about Mill D at 6:00 tomorrow evening? Might be a little late, but I'll try to bust out of work early. We can shuttle up to Guardsman from there. Hopefully no more lightning!
Good luck to all those racing this weekend! We'll be up there on Sunday to spectate. I have to go to a bridal shower on Saturday, so we'll probably miss seeing most of you guys.
I have spare knee pads. And I do have an old full-face helmet (Bell Rhythm Pro - size M I think). Super D is funny though - you'll see everything from full DH gear/bikes to full XC on a hardtail.Originally Posted by InspectorGadget

You can borrow my stuff if you want, since my DH practice is Friday from noon to 3pm or the like so I'll be done with it, but warning: it'll be sweaty!Originally Posted by InspectorGadget

You can really do the Super-D in just regular XC gear, a lot of XC riders (aka ex-roadies) race Super-D on their XC bikes in XC helmets. The offer's still there if you want it.
I'm out for riding Friday night - I'll have just practiced DH for hours and I feel SUPER worked after that, and want to save energy for the race Saturday.
Man, this racing shit just gets in the way of some good fun with the girls (and occasional guys, grin). Plus my XC bike is sorta dismantled at the moment, but will be ready to roll by the time I'm done with July racing, (which will be after next weekend - Go-Ride DH - and I'll be back in the game with you chicas!
This touchy-feely Kumbaya shit has got to go.
IG I'll be up there I have elbow pads and a 661 assault suit you could use. They're also for sale if you like them!
pfft.... you don't need no stinkin' pads - I just saw you ride the sickter ladder on the big Q trail last night without 'em!Originally Posted by InspectorGadget

Hm, I have some tentative plans on Friday night, but might be able to re-arrange them to make this ride. If not, I might be up for a crest ride sometime during the day on Friday (of course, after I finish writing a paperOriginally Posted by tradygirl

DOH! I 'paused' on the top of that ladder last night, but pulled it off. Really, I think it's all about speed when approaching it.Originally Posted by skiguide

If anyone wants to ride the Crest tomorrow and meet at 6pm, post here or PM me so I don't leave without you. I will most likely ride it while Dantheman runs it.
w00t.

Not the pipe ladder (which i did the same thing as you on -and agreed-need more speed) - but the sketch one off trail that has that funky angle to it and the steep rock /rolldown exit.Originally Posted by utsnowgirl

Tradygirl, sucks we'll miss you Saturday, but hey, the Pros and Semi-pros go Sunday so it's more fun to watch, just the silver lining for you.
IG, you ROCK! Good luck, maybe we'll see you at practice tomorrow, and maybe we'll be there to cheer you in the Super-D.
This touchy-feely Kumbaya shit has got to go.
I can't ride the Crest tonight, have to go to PC to celebrate my step dad's b-day.
If any of you are riding the Crest after today, let me know!!
