    "Reasonably"-priced software: Quark?

So.... I need to buy a copy of Quark Xpress, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a source for something reasonably priced.

CampusTech has a full version for cheap, but it's only for students.

Anyone know of a decent source.... or have a version that you no longer use (and is deleted from your machine) that you would want to sell or give (=legal)?

Edit: I need a PC version. Latest is 6.5, with 7 coming soon.

I didn't take a look at the website you mentioned - but couldn't you paypal the money to a student and have them order the item, and then ship it to you...or something along those lines?

ask the quark guys … had the same issue with adobe photoshop, didn't take much of convincing them, just bought an additional workplace and got it on windows.

Ii wouldn't bother with Quark, especially on PC. i think that is a nightnare in the making. I would move on to InDesign (Adobe) since they are capturing the market, and their PC/MAC integration or unification rather, is pretty solid.

Just go to a college campus bookstore like Metro State, and purchase it. They don't ask for student ID. And, since you are learning it...an 'educational copy' will work for now.

Yeah....I hear that InDesign is gaining ground. I've used Quark for a long time (so that is part of it...no learning curve), although I am a long-time PhotoShop user, so maybe some of the Adobe-family traits will carry over.

Not many college campuses here in Jackson.

InDesign was designed to kill quark and it will. A couple of years ago my boss needed to buy new software and asked me to give InDesign a shot since it came free in the CS bundle anyway. I haven't used Quark since. Most tools and key commands are the same. If they aren't InDesign has come up with something better than Quark had and may take all of 3 seconds to figure out. I never took a class. It's super easy.

Right now I'm learning GoLive and having a fucking blast. I haven't been this stoked on software since I was learning photoshop.

Thanks, MD9. Will probably go the InDesign route...
