Don't forget his latest proposal to spend $1.5 billion to encourage low income people to get married.

It's not about low income marriage, thats just a thin veil. It's really about saying that this administration will do anything to stop homosexual unions and maintain the "healthy marriage" status quo.

What is important about the paper that is the most recent of a series of papers saying that invading Iraq was a political and tactical mistake, not where it came from.
The only reason the press is grabbing onto this paper from this no-name professor is because "Army" is in the name of the guy's employer. You, I, and everyone else that doesn't live under a rock made their mind up about the war in Iraq a long time ago. This paper is not changing anyones' side.

Yeah? I'm sure there are at least a few papers floating around from the Army War College that support the invasion of Iraq, why didn't the press latch onto those?

Talking Sorry Blurred, can't help myself!

Is Bush stupid....? Well, Paul O'Neil didn't think he was very bright.

"The two met one-on-one almost every week, but O'Neill says he had trouble divining his boss's goals and ideas. Bush was a blank slate rarely asking questions or issuing orders, unlike Nixon and Ford, for whom O'Neil also worked... Describing top-level meetings, O'Neill tells Suskind that during the course of his two years the President was 'like a blind man in a roomful of deaf people.' "

As for the Army War College, the report was actually issued by the "Strategic Studies Institute (SSI) of the Army War College. The SSI is the U.S. Army's think tank for the analysis of national security policy and military strategy. SSI provides direct analysis for Army and Department of Defense leadership, and serves as a bridge to the wider strategic community. The report was written by Dr. Jeffrey Record, professor at the Air War College and long-time defense expert who is a visiting research professor at SSI."

    Again- which facts?

Second of all, see the last 60 Minutes? That's a pretty good start. As it happens, I have some first-hand testimonial from two very reliable sources- my aunt, who chaired a White House-sponsored panel on education; and a friend and co-worker of my father at a lobbying firm and who has had many encounters with Bush (as a governor and as President)- and both of them say that he was unfocused and uninterested in the business at hand.

And by the way, that's not how you spell "intelligent."

Well, you're not stupid ENOUGH to blow the advantages your incredible family connections and great wealth provide. But that's not what we're talking about. First of all, it's not hard to graduate from either of those schools, especially with mediocre grades (as GWB did). It's hard to get in- unless you have the aforementioned connections and wealth. Keep in mind these admissions were 20-30 years ago- admissions weren't the same game they are now (as a law school applicant from last year, I know you'll appreciate that). Second of all, he was a minority owner and the public face of the Rangers, but that doesn't mean anything other than that he had enough money to buy some shares of a baseball team. I could go out tomorrow and buy some shares of the Celtics, would that reflect on my intelligence? Third of all, the governorship of Texas is one of the weakest in the country. The lieutenant-governorship has always been the position of power in that state, and you can look it up. Finally, being elected doesn't have a lot to do with being intelligent, it has more to do with appearances than smarts. The voters (not the majority of voters, but many millions of them) believed that George Bush was the best candidate in the last presidential election and will in the next one as well. Not the smartest- that would have been Ralph Nader- but the best. Bush is propped up by a bunch of very politically savvy and yes, smart people- but I don't believe that he is one of them.

Thank you, APK, for saving me the time of writing essentially what you just pointed out.
If you can't figure out on your own that Bush is not a bright man (Paul O'Neill certainly did), then there's something wrong with you.
He's not smart, not thoughtful, and does not believe in his own fallibility.

He may not be well-spoken, or what you call "thoughtful", but he's definitely smarter than you!!!

Figures you'd dig the male cheerleader.

Trent Lott was a cheerleader too.

    Fags, both of 'em.

What about the big-earred jew-boy? He wasn't a cheerleader too? Was he? (I kinda like him, except he doesn't believe in Santa)

I dunno, I kinda get the impression that Mr. Lieberman was reading stuff and trying to get smart while George and Trent were prancing around in tights carrying megaphones.

But that could just be my impression.

Do you believe in Santa Claus, Brett?

I caught Santa doing strange things to my dog one Christmas Eve when I was like 8. I never really got over that....

Brett, sorry about the Santa thing, that had to hurt.

But right on about the cheerleaders.

Answer me this: Aside from Clowns, is there anything in the world freakier than male cheerleaders? And do you really want a male cheerleader to run your country?

What, you guys couldn't find a clown to run?

I don't know. I've seen some pretty freaky looking midget strippers in the local clubs around here...

I guess if they ran for Pres, they'd definitely get my vote.
