    198 Bandit XXX?

So I'm spending the summer scrounging up a dirt-bag quiver for next year. As much as I'd like to fire up a set of Lotuses, the baby, mortgage and low bonus probability have relegated me to scouring ebay and the local second hand shops.

I saw an older set of 198 Bandit XXXs the other day. The search function and Google isn't much help on these, but I have a feeling these might be something different. I didn't have much time to look at them, but they had the 2001ish topsheet. I'm pretty sure the topsheet claimed a 108mm waist?!

They had older din 18 fks heelpieces on them, which further confirmed my suspicion that these aren't stock.

I anybody able to give me some more info?

    Thanks

    Not Yet

    Not yet,

They had just come in and they told me that "for insurance reasons" the ski guy has to come by and check them out before they can sell them. Bastard, the ski guy will probably take them for himself.

I'm supposed to hear back from them today.

I had a pair of what you're describing - got them from Gordy Peifer.

I've currently got a pair of Gordy Peifer's 195 B3s (new) for sale, if'n you're interested. Let me know.

There were 196s with "Team Rider - Hugo Harrisson" on the tails, but I don't think the 198s did.

198s for sale on here last year (with pictures):

    Ahhhh,

I had searched for 198 xxx, but had completely forgotten about the mythical xxxx. Interesting...a seach for xxxx reveals the board consensus was that the xxxx was a too-stiff dickwaving ski that not even the team riders really appreciated. BUT - that was back in 2004. Given that everybody is now so excited about the Squads, I wonder if the xxxx would be considered a bit more skiable now.

Hell, I think I'm going to have to pull the trigger on these things. If they don't work out you'll see them in the gear swap, or perhaps my brother (he's freaking HUGE) can use them.

Let me know when you hate them and send them my way. If they are really 108 under the foot, they are one of the numerous different XXXXs that they tried. If they are 115-85-105 then they are the team XXXs (red/blk graphics?) and they still are super fun. I wish I had kept the pair I had for not so deep days
