Coors Field 5-7-06, a baseball TR (summertime!)

What a weekend - my first time at Coors Field. I like the Rockies, but I love the Astros - they have been my favorite team for about 15 years now. Obviously the Astros did not play well and the Rockies kicked some ass and swept the 3 game series. Either way, I had a great time in an amazing ball park and got to see a few of my favorites up to bat once again. If you like baseball and are ever anywhere near Denver for a game, GO TO IT. Coors Field is absolutely beautiful.

Here are some pictures from my point of view. We went to both Saturday and Sunday's game, but I only brought my camera into Sunday's game. We sat RIGHT behind home plate, Section 131, Row 15, Seat 1 & 2. We were right above the home plate tunnel.

Here are some shots of the park and the game...

We rode light rail into Union Station, next to the Ski Train gate:

We got there a little early... our seats are right above that tunnel behind home...

Visitor's bullpen, complete with pine trees and waterfall...

First Pitch of the game, Cook pitching a fastball to Willy Taveras of the Astros...

Astros dugout... My favorite player Craig Biggio is in there looking almost towards the camera. He took Sunday off, but came in to pinch hit in the 9th...

Astros in the field, Rockies at bat...

    Crowd of about 30,000...

    ...continued....

Some more shots of the game:

    Lance Berkman...

    Berkman at bat...

An Astro at bat with 2 on...and didn't get it done... (story of the series)

Typical scene... an Astro is thrown out at first...

    Rain threatening in the 7th...

Mid game, Biggio came out to warm up the pitcher while the catcher got his gear on...

Top of the 9th... last chance.... Biggio gets ready to pinch hit...

Biggio waits as Bruntlett bats. Bruntlett walks and brings Biggio to bat with 2 outs...

Biggio was called out on strikes with a full count and the game was over.

I still had a great time, SUMMER IS HERE!

on a similar note does anyone have a link to the video of Berkman's little run-in with the wall on saturday?

It was Chris Burke (not Berkman). It was a sweet catch though! I guess he cranked his shoulder... on Sunday he was in the dugout with a tshirt on and a big ice pack on it. I know the video was on SC that night.

I don't know about the call, but it is what it is. And c'mon, even if you don't like the Astros, you gotta respect Craig Biggio...

Nice seats! I usually get the $4 seats and then move up close since 3/4 of the stadium is empty . Looks like that may be more difficult this year since they are off to a decent start. Good to see fans filling up the seats at Coors.

I went to game 1 against the Reds. They definetly aren't getting the crowds. There were like 7000 people there. Hopefully if they keep playing this well that will change. ESPN is picking them to win the division. It was really cool back when they played at mile high and like 75000 people would show up

Yeah, Saturday was about 26,000 and Sunday was near 30,000. But I still think mid-week is pretty small crowd stuff. I bet crowds will start getting better as the Rockies do well and as the weather gets better. I am hoping to come back to another game soon...

Buy $25 worth of groceries at King Soopers and you get four coupons for $6 tickets to the Rox games... they're pretty good lower level seats, too.

You just had to one up my Wrigley TR

    Great pics;
I agree on rooting for Biggio; you have to respect a guy who has been in the majors since '88 & is still productive.

Baseball+summer=greatness (while waiting for winter to return)
    The only prescription...is more cowbell.

Also had a hot dog at the park - they just taste better watching baseball, right? Even though it was like 6 bucks.
