Alpine Meadows Roll Call May 6-7

Well, my ski lease ended last weekend, but I'm going up and staying at my ski club's cabin in King's Beach this w/e. It looks like I have two other boarders with me (they'll probably be on soft boots, me on hard boots), including the Snowboarding Chiropractor if anyone needs an adjustment in the lift line.

Anyone else gonna be there? 8:00am opening. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I'll be wearing gray pants and a red spyder shirt with either a fleece vest or North Face soft shell over it, if its cold enough.

I'll be around, w/ a buddy of mine who is just getting back into skiing after being off for 10 plus years. Blue pants and on my Explosivs.

The missus has midday obligations both days of the weekend, so I might bring the kids up for a day trip. However, the missus is also complaining that there's lots to do around the house that has gotten neglected since, oh, start of December. I'd say I'm a 25% chance, but would be kid-encumbered if I show. Otherwise, a trip to Great America may be in the offing. Sigh.

are you saying they are now opening at 8am? would that also mean they are closing earlier?

edit: Lame, just saw their site. 8am - 1pm for anyone else who hasn't seen it.

Not lame at all, IMHO. Last weekend, it wasn't worth skiing after lunch anyway. Better that they open it early.

Oh, that's sad to hear you think that
Cinders & I had a great time, up to the lifts closing, last Sunday. Off Scott chair, except for one last hike from Summit 6.
We'd been sad to see that you couldn't get over to Sherwood, when we got there. But ended up having a whale of a time.
A fine (most likely) last trip of the season.

Definitely lame IMHO. I skied until 3 or so last saturday. When you are just learning to ski warm slop can be lots of fun.

Summer & Fall are very long. Plenty of time to get the house ready for the next winter of neglect.

I stand corrected about the worthlessness of afternoon skiing. I hadn't thought about Scott -- I'm sure it warmed up nicely.

StormDay, I'm with you. Now I'm just hoping I'll actually be with you. Skiing, that is. Dilemmas abound.

I will look down upon you from the top of KT across the valley.

As for gear, I'll be on either a light blue Donek 171 Freecarve board (think skinny - 18cm waist) or a 180 Coiler with Blue flames - also skinny. Orange Head boots.

Sinecure, nice guy that he is, felt the need to call me at 1:20 yesterday after finishing a run down NC Chute. And to tell me about lapping High T until Sherwood shut down.

    Bastard.

Instead, I spent the weekend installing drip irrigation and enjoying a morning at Great America.

I didn't see anyone on saturday - I must be blind. I was in a black tank top and tan pants if anyone saw me.
