Thinking of Buying: used Moped in the Front Range

So not thinking to far into the future I sold my car in an effort to pay off tuition. I am however returning home to Boulder in a week and will be in need of transportation other than my bike, ad my insurance company wants an outrageous ammount to add me as a secondary driver to my parents cars. I'm thinking a moped will do the trick. Looking for something used. Beat up body is fine (and preferable if it makes the thing cheaper). From what it sounds like I need a 49cc so I don't need a liscense. Anybody got anything. Want a Zuma or SR Elite if possible, but really not to picky as I'm already taking a shot to my pride driving around a moped (which maybe a lot of people could use in this country). Also preferable if you have a helmet with it that would fit me. No Chinese knockoffs unless it's a price I can't resist. If it needs some work thats ok, as I'd rather ding up my knuckles than go broke. If any Colorado Mags that drive scooters or mopeds have any advice on how to register it etc. that would be appreciated, and also hoping to forgoe insurance (is that required by law here?). Anyways hit me up. I have a ton of things I'd be willing to trade in my other thread, or my parents said they could spot me some cash if it goes that route. If anyone knows someone selling or thinking of selling let me know, if not it's off to Craigslist when I get back.

You know what they say about mopeds and fat chicks....
It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy

There's also the electric bicycle option. They've got short range, but you don't have to pay for registration, you can ride it on bike paths, and you don't have to worry about parking. (A moped is a motor vehicle and you can't just leave it on the sidewalk, though enforcement varies in different cities.)

Here's a price list for several modern electrobikes:

    REALLY?

I'm pretty sure we're talking about getting to class, the grocery store, drunken parties, etc., not cross-country road trips on the Interstate.

Have a Roadie I'll probably ship out from California, but my Parents live in Gunbarrel, and as much as I want to commute to work in South Boulder or Louisville everyday, come back to Gunbarrel, and then go to friends houses at night in South Boulder and then back home, figure the night trips would be better suited with a moped (plus we normally meet at one guys house, which I can hide my moped behind so none of my other friends know about it. the fat chick I'm hooking it with is another story, figure I can't hide her in the same places my moped would fit....)

Because of the insurance situation I'm not allowed to even drive any car under my family's policy. (probably could but my parents won't have any of it, plus they both work and usually need thier cars). Figure it would be nice too for when I come back on Holidays and such so it's easier to meet friends at the Eldo lots for skiing as they don't want to come pic me up at 6:30 in the morning and ads 35 minutes to thier drive. Granted it's doable on a bike, but it's just one of those things I'd rather have a choice on, and if I can find a moped for a reasonable price I might as well. If I can't I figure the only thing I have to hide is my affinity for fat chicks, and man is that gonna be hard, because lets face it, they're just so much fun.

And another thing, not to nag on public transit....but to take the bus from my house to my high school would take and hour and half one way. While the Skip and Hop arn't bad if your not connecting to any other bus and are located near it's route, Boulder isn't as friendly to those without cars as soon as you get away from the CU/Pearl St areas.
