Just reinstall Windows like everyone else.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

If your computer is somewhat new at all you could just call your customer service and they may be able to figure out what is wrong with it, and walk you through whatever needs to be done. Dell has been good to me with this.

Internet explorere is part of windows, so you can't really remove it. Adware got ahold of you too?

Antivirus software, spybot, adaware, www.support.microsoft.com, and as snow dog pointed out, nothing like a clean install. Just back up your data and hose it.

And watch out for those shareware, warez and porn sites.

The problem is Windows EXTREMELY complex and EXTREMELY undocumented.

An install/repair can fix some problems by replacing corrupted program files.

If that doesn't work then a format and fresh install is the way to go.

    Argh!

    Can't do tech support anywhere.

Problem is the computer is past any warranty, and the windows installation was off of a borrowed disk. There's nobody to help on this one.

is it possible to re-install windows without cleaning out all of the other data on the computer?

It MAY be. Can you use something like partition magic to create anther partition and move you data there. Then reinstall on your main partition. Either that or do as snow dog suggested and attempt a repair. you can get all this software including OS's from www.suprnova.org Just download the bittorrent client and search for software.

Either that or burn your data to disk and do it that way. An old hard drive could also work to hold your data. You'll figure something out. It is not the end of the world, it just feels like it.

if you got windows xp it IS possible to reinstall ie 6, u just need da sp1 update and a certain tool.

pleeze tell me before, HOW ya computer is acting like...

before reinstalling windows, i'd first use norton system tuner to delete all temp files and optimize ya whole sys.

and if ya really have to reinstall, you can either use partition magic, as said above, or go to a buddy, build in ya hard disk in his computer, make a backup in his pc and reinstall windows then.
but progz like driver, and certain toolz will have to be reinstalled, too.

so tell me more about ya probs before doin all that...

I personally don't recommend using Norton anything, that advice comes from personal headaches and problems.

Backup the data, format and reinstall. You'll be glad you did.
