    Stephen Colbert, ballsiest man alive.

Stephen Colbert speaking at the white house correspondents dinner. Probably one of the funniest things I have seen since Jon Stewart on crossfire.

    Pure Awesomeness.

Unlike my Red Sox, who are pure suck right now.

In all honesty, what's so ballsy about criticizing the president? It's done daily, it's not like if you saw the president and yelled something negative at him that the secret service would assassinate you.

Ballsy to do it while speaking at a dinner that he (W)is attending. Especially with a president who is so shielded from his critics he closed all his "town hall" meetings with the public, so that only supporter could attend.

Ballsy to call out the press for it's unheralded laziness, at it's own event. He definitely didn't make any friends, and, in fact probably did a lot of damage to his ability to get certain people on his show.

    my favorite line:
But, listen, let's review the rules. Here's how it works: the president makes decisions. He's the decider. The press secretary announces those decisions, and you people of the press type those decisions down. Make, announce, type. Put them through a spell check and go home. Get to know your family again. Make love to your wife. Write that novel you got kicking around in your head. You know, the one about the intrepid Washington reporter with the courage to stand up to the administration. You know - fiction.

Yeah, okay, I'll admit that I responded before seeing the clip, and relying only a newspaper report that left a lot of the press shots out.

    That is pretty ballsy.

My great-grandfather is probably spinning in his grave about the current state of the press....rip

Yes, I find it pretty funny that Comedy Central has the most esteemed newsmen in the country. (I know, it's a stretch, but I'll take it)

Also, that's also only the 2nd half of the speech, I'll dig up the 1st and post it.

That is pretty pathetic, that the closest thing to non-biased reporting (albeit laced with sarcasm), is on a comedy channel ?!?

Come on dood. I watch The Colbert Report, The Daily Show and Bill Mahr all the time. Why? Because they great shows. But you cannot tell me their writers are not targeting a specific demographic. Its about ratings and money. Hardly unbiased reporting.

I watch Bill Mahr every Fri night. He rarely has an articulate conservative on his panel, and even when he does, they are never a majority. He window dresses his panel to suit his agenda. Nothing wrong that either.

All though i thought Dana Rohrabacher schooled everyone on immigration the other week. People dont hire illegals because they are the only ones who will do the job, they hire them because they are willing to do the job for a price most Americans wont.

huge grins on this one- kudos to Colbert- check out the video of him interviewing/gutting Bill Krystol (sp?) on Huffingtonpost. loose the grins and scare the shit outta yourself at www.newamericancentury.org. look at the folks who signed the original document (cir. '98), then look at the current cabinet. why the mainstream press hasn't picked up on this is beyond me. is anyone listening out there.......hello........

Do you realize that you've just posted an admission of ignorance so breathtaking that it disqualifies you from commenting on any political or economic threads from here on out?

edg, thanks for the complete clips.

It's interesting how the media is completely silent on this. They definitely don't like it when they are called on their failure to do their job.

I might of laughed harder if he walked up to Bush and kicked him in the nuts.

They did a piece on Colbert during last night's sixty minutes. Guy is totally dissimilar to the Colbert you see on TV.

    Unassuming suburban dad.

I saw the last part of it.. where he was being chased by helen thomas. I thought it had potential and was clever, but the funny part was missing..

I've seen much better comics do much better roasts at those things..

He was so dead on it is actually a bit sad.....My favorite bit about the press:

Can anyone find the W look-a-like sketch (conducted by W himself)? Don't know if it was filmed or not...

    This is fucking awesome:

"I stand by this man. I stand by this man because he stands for things. Not
only for things, he stands on things. Things like aircraft carriers and rubble and recently flooded
city squares. And that sends a strong message, that no matter what happens to America, she
will always rebound -- with the most powerfully staged photo ops in the world."
