    the crested butte comp

Is anyone doing the big mountain or skiercross comp at crested butte end of feb?
I am looking for a place to stay or people to get a place with.

Sandy, first of all my apologies. At first I thought that you were a troll, and I patronised you. I don't live in Utah, I live in Colorado.
I'm being real with ya now. I'm planning on heading down there with my friend Alison, (Read the East Vail TR thread) and we could use some roommates. She is arranging accomodations, she's kind of in charge of all that, but I know we need roomies...You can stay with us. Let me know, and sorry about the whole Canyons joke, I thought the pink 1-piece with telemark ski-blades would have clued you in. I'll let you slap me at the Butte...... Brett

I knew the pink suite and the blades were sh^t. I thought you'd still show though. Yeah, I'm interrested in rooming with you guys. pm me with any info..
Are you doing the big mountain.? It is ridiculous how exspensive the entrance fee is.!

Yeah, its always been really expensive. I'm still letting my collarbone heal, so I don't know if I'll be doing Skiercross....Big Mountain for sure though.

Also, if I were you Sandy, I'd go skiing at the Bird and Alta as much as you can. CB is no joke, and it's tough to completely prepare for the place. Bring skis you're not afraid of breaking/running over rocks etc. I'd encourage use of a full-face helmet, and even Skeletools. I'll keep you informed of our plans as soon as I talk to Alison to get the 411. Brett

I am not worried about the terrain, thanks for the tip on rock skis. I have a couple to choose from. I don't know what skeletools are though.
Great, now I feel very jongish!
Keep me posted. I'm sending my paper work in this week.l
Fulf ace helmets make me feel claustrophobic, want to scream.

They wouldn't if you saw the footage of the guy at the CB comp a few years ago that ate a rock, sandy.

Good point. I like my teeth, where they are at the moment that is.
I know what that skele stuff is, nevermind.
I don't plan on hucking huge. Mouth gaurd will be looked into though.
Thanks for thinking about me splat.

Splat knows his shit Sandy. Just ski with a full-face a couple of times to get used to it. You'll then feel naked and vulnerable without it after that. Save your teeth, get a fullface. BTW-skeletools are pads you wear under your clothing for added protection.

You can read about my fall at the Butte last year in the injuries thread someone posted lately. That may inspire you to protect yourself.

just saw it there. Looks pretty, complete with stickers! Biggest thing is the fit, if it fits right, I'd say buy it.

Ive seen people in that helmet and all I can say is that its fackin huge. It honestly looks like a full on moto helmet.

About the claustrophobia thing I ski in a flint and have never noticed the chinguard, except when I spit of course. Honestly I cant ven see it when I have my goggles on.
