Okay, while we're on the subject of kicking habits, what does everyone think about caffeine consumption? Coffee is my one true dietary vice and I am loathe to ever give it up. And decaf coffee can bite me.

Lots of bad and good things have been said about coffee (caffene). It seems like none of the bad stuff ever seems to stick.
I have a very informal poll running with my wife and we point out or mention when a health "study" talks about the benefits/risks of drinking coffee. It seems like the pro studies are more numerous than the negative studies.
As mentioned above, nothing really seem to stick to coffee. We're committed coffee drinkers.

Do not tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don't tell them where they know the fish.

I gave up my daily coffee (which I consumed at the rate of 1 lb of beans every 20 days) for Lent, with the minor exception that I counted Saturdays and Sundays as sabbaths (i.e. drinking coffee on weekends). By the last few weekends, I didn't care whether I had coffee at all. It was very easy to cut back to that level. It's been two weeks now, but I'm still not back to daily drinking... but I think it's time to upgrade my grinder and plunge back into the dark side (actually, medium roast side).
Drink green tea everyday, plain. Only b/c it said it has a huge amount of healt benefits and figured i'll take what i can get. I do however munch jet alert from time to time. 200mg of caff. Like the buzz and it quells my ridiculous appetite. Not that I'm fat, but i like the jitteryness from time to time.
I have an interesting relationship with caffeine.
as a software guy, I'm pretty much required by work to consume mass quantities of it daily. however, I did take some time off the programming thing, and also reduced my coffee intake.
then, one year for lent (hehe I'm not catholic) I gave up caffeine totally (I had already cut down to a cup or two per week) and never got back on it until that summer, when I went on a 2400 mile roadtrip, when I did drink coffee as I got tired. Lo and behold, I was able to drive for 40 hours straight (with some sidetrips to see sights such as mt mitchell and clingman's dome) without a problem - caffeine works great when you're not using it every day!
so now I try to cut out the caffeine a month before I know I'm going on a long roadtrip like that..

Morning has broken
MR. Coffee has spoken
The familiar wake-up call
sings to my ears
I wake up with a shrug
To the floor with a thud
Where in this hellhole is my coffee mug?
I can now face the day
on legal speed (The American way)
I'm sketching
I'm seizing
I'm spazing
I'm shaking
I can not stop spilling on my brand new shirt
I-I-I'm wired
I'm so inspired
I drank the entire pot
so off to work
Here I come to save the day
on legal speed (The American way)
Drinking coffee
I drink coffee
Drinking coffee everyday
Your dog just ate an avocado!
