You forgot the first step, yo.

    1) Break in half, throw into pellet stove.
    2) Buy some fat skis.

only thing i see missing is maybe alittle infor on edge degress and maybe a small section on detuning your edges

other than that its a really good tut.

No explaination of filling holes (ptex work) and you didn't mention letting your board cool before scraping.
Move along nothing to see here.

the ptext remark gave me another idea. I don't think I talk about inspecting your board to even see if you would require some ptex work. And yes I need to mention wax cool time. What do you recommend? sometime I let it sit over night other time just 15 minutes or so.

Is this seriously being discussed? Everybody knows that no snowboarders ever tune there snowboards. But if they did P has the best tips I've seen so far.

You forgot the first step, yo.

    1) Break in half, throw into pellet stove.
    2) Buy some fat skis.

You forgot 'heat base w/ torch until it ignites'
Makes the break in half part easier and more visually pleasing.

You forgot the part about how to structure your wax with the Scotch scrubby pad after scraping off all the excess wax.

You will need base cleaner, rags, an edge tuner, some wax, an iron, a scraper, and buffer.
Two thoughts on this list. 1) You forgot BRUSHES and 2) I'd be careful suggesting base cleaner to everyone - someone's going to dry out their base and ruin it.

You don't have to have brushes, but they sure help. Did you look at the tips on Tognar? Those are some of the best on the web. Also, you might check out Scott Firestone's Alpine Carving site. It is snowboard specific (although more aimed at carving than twin-tip jibbing) and has a lot of good stuff. Be sure to ask Scott's permission before stealing his stuff, though.

I always get a kick out of the boarders I see de-tuning their boards using the "drag through the parking lot" method. I suppose if you spend your whole day in the trauma park de-tuning on rails and boxes, it doesn't matter too much.

FWIW, I really like 1 degree base, 2-3 degree side bevel on my boards. I only de-tune a bit and do it with a gummi. Not that edges matter too much in Tahoe, but they are nice once in a while.

Don't forget to remove the actual snowboarder first. They can be quite pleasantly useful.
I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.

    Wax cool time

The longer the better. Cooling slowly will allow the wax to absorb better. Overnight is best, and store the board inside while cooling, don't just chuck it into the snow.

well, I would definitely start with 5 or 6 bong hits, and a couple of beers. I'd go out and buy some XXXL Carharts work pants, and let them hang real low. Then I would invite 7 of my friends over to sit on the floor and say "yeah, bro", everytime I pulled the file over the edge.

just to add - the ultra-wide scrapers like the one in your guide pics really suck. they are never stiff enough for a good scrape. use a ski scraper.

What do snowboards and vacuum cleaners have in common?
Both come with dirtbags attached to them.

If you plan to ride powder, and what other reason is there to ride a board than to surf and float the pow pow, then you only need to know 2 things, warm weather wax for the pineapple express and cold weather wax for cold smoke. Put in on liberally with a hot iron until it is smooth as glass. Don't scrape it, put it inside and let it dry overnight like the other guy said. The wax will come off fast enough on its own, if you get the wax smooth with the iron you'll be fine, just rub the board back and forth on the snow with 1 foot strapped in before your first run.

Edges are for the EC, but I keep a file in the truck just in case. Dull edges make for a faster board.
