    Rossi binders with Trekkers question

Question for those of you who have used Alpine Trekkers:

When I have my Alpine Trekkers locked into my Rossi bindings, my brakes are down. The brakes come up, out of the snow, when I step down. Is there some trick to getting your brakes to stay in the UP position when I'm touring?

My bindings are Rossi Pro 180s

Just think of it as extra traction.

Well, given that the brakes are up when the heel is down and the ski is gliding forward, this just about works. When the heel is up, you want the ski to stay put and the brakes help in that regard. It works the way it is, but I'm getting NO glide, and it's probably because the brakes are dragging.

I get just about zero glide with my skins and freerides...fat skins must be slow gliders.

There's a LOT of tension in the spring. Don't think a rubber band will do, plus it would have to run under the base of the ski, which won't work either. Thanks for playing though.

bullshit. it's a turntable heel right?

Above the ski the brakes come up and in when you step down. You simply take the huge rubber band, pull the two brakes as close together abouve deck as you can and wind the rubber band around, (above the ski), and behind the heel.

Ah, I see what you mean. I'll give that a try. ANd If a rubberband won't work (if it breaks in the cold) something else might (like a ziptie).

    THANKS!!

I made two small wooden shims to deal with it--they go under the Trekker and provide the extra downward force to keep the brakes up.

Dood, I have excatly what you need from the ski shop I used to work at. Remind me of this. Extra thick rubber bands, really thick black ones. They WILL work for what you are wanting.

The onyl problem I had with my trekkers and look pivot 12s (sameas rossi) was that hte back of the trekker would scrape the look heel penis when I steppend down.

Yeah, I get some penis scrape there too. Other than losing some paint, and making a slight clicking noise, I don't see it as a problem.

Another solution for heavy duty rubber bands is to cut up an old MTB inner tube.
