Brazilian surf board...should I get one?

Does anyone know anythig about brazilian surf boards? Are they good? Do they use high quality materials. I am going down in 10 days and my little brother told me I can order a board and get it custom made for around 250 dollars. Im thinking about a 6'2"-6'4" fish. Currently Im on a 6'10" schrodel, short board for a fat guy...Im still learning. Anyway, should I order a new board or just take mine?

    Any thoughts?

Look at how much your airline charges for a surfboard. Even if the board is crap it may be cheaper than bringing yours from home...

If it's anything like the bikini wax, it's bound to hurt you... but you'll look good.
I'm just a simple girl trying to make my way in the universe...
I come up hard, baby but now I'm cool I didn't make it, sugar playin' by the rules
If you know your history, then you would know where you coming from, then you wouldn't have to ask me, who the heck do I think I am.

Even if it's a little more expensive to buy the new board, I'd say do it. You can learn a lot by riding different boards and getting your equipment dialed.

Heard from a shaper friend that the foam is shitty- he won't use any brasilian foam. If I were you, I'd try to find a good used board, there are a lot of weird blanks floating around right now.

    Edit: Fuck Gordon Clark

hmmm, shitty foam. Doesn't sound good. However, it seems like it would be the same price to buy a board as it would be to rent for 10 days so I think Im going to pick one up.
    Thanks for the input.

One more question: does anyone know where I can find dimensions of different boards. If Im ordering a custom I need to specify the rocker, concave, etc. which I really know nothing about.

The old Clark Foam blank catalog is my source for a lot of blanks' dimensions... you can still find a copy floating around on the web, or I could email you one.

If you know nothing about it you probably shouldn't be giving the dimensions. Just tell your shaper your height, weight, skill level, age, experience and the type of waves you'll be surfing. If you have another board that really worked for you, show it to him and try to identify what you liked.

I just placed the order. Its from silversurf.com.br. apparently my brother can get me a board for 420reals (200 US). I ordered the fish with a swallow tail. After I ride it I will tell you how it works.

If you can, order the board with heavier glass. Think 6ml S-glass T&B with double 6ml under your feet, especially the tail. It will be a little heavier, but bulletproof and will travel a lot better too.

Apparently you should get a Brazilian wax job not a Brazilian surfboard.
