Cool shot! That cool looking super narrow chute in the middle is Hour Glass. We didn't hit that although it looked good to go. Some of the lines we were in the area of the slope in the middle of your pic with the big pine tree on it....that's part of the Hanging Valley.

Anyone up for a Anti-X Games Mini?: Jan 23, 24, 25. Aspen/Snowmass? 23rd is the Powder Awards. (Phunk's section was nominated, although he shared the section it with a bunch of people.) I've never been to Ahhhhhspen, should be fun. I wanna ski, not watch.

I'll have to see. I'm already in trouble with the Mrs for the 3 trips I've been on and there are at least 6 more to come. If you hit Snowmass be sure to hook-up with Raddam. I'll see what I can do about getting there.

Ty, feel like writing up day 2?

BTW, I took my ski into the shop. Somehow I bent the toe-height screw in the one binding. They gave me a new one for free. Lesson to be learned: check your toe height adjustment after getting your skis back. Unfortunately mine was loose and taking cliffs with that little extra room can bend the screw inside your toe piece. D'oh.

    Cool

great write-up MD! Had an absolute blast meeting and riding with some new maggots on Saturday. Raddam and Jane were excellent hosts, as well as the uber-dude. Would love to hit that place up on a big pow day. Damn thumb looks like I stuck it in a blueberry pie! Finally was able to get some range of motion back last night, but the thing is still fat, ugly, and tender . btw, thanks for the AI drugs MD9, they really helped until they wore off sometime that night.

To get out to his entry he would need to hang onto a tree and pull himself around to the the front of the slope. He side-slipped a big turn down the wall, but uncovered a rock on landing which re-injured his thumb. Tyrone was up next. Instead of hugging the tree he tried to cruise up the side of the wall into the deep snow. Upon doing so his binding realeased in a pretty sketchy place. Ty managed to keep his cool and click back in. He began jumping with all his weight on the snow trying to break some of the stuff loose. It wasn't giving at first, but eventually it let loose just as he was near the edge and he was going for a ride. Profanities were shouted as he fell into the chute needing to make a fast right turn to avoid armchair and iskibc.

I think we should call that little section Bad Idea Jeans. I didn't really understand where the line went for that section either. As I was gaping up, I was thinking to myself, that doesn't really look too good, but what do I know. When iskibc came out of that last little section it looked like he was stuck facing uphill with his skis stuck into the cliff, it didn't look comfortable at all.

Great day for sure, that place must go off on a pow day.

    scwheet report guys.

last year the 2nd comp hit with 12" fresh, and it was indeed sick. it actually pretty much killed my desire to compete though. powder became my main concern .

...looking forward to the comps again this year.

    Thumbs up

That shot of Jane with the aspen stand behind her is tremendous. Nice!

Still waiting to hear about day 2, gentlemen! "Jumping off the lift" is a good teaser, though.
    It's idomatic, beatch.
