Movie most overdue for a Tim Burton remake

I dont think it needs a remake at all. I dont think anyone could play wonka as well as Gene Wilder. And the tacky sets and musical numbers all add to the weirdness. And seriously what the hell is going on in that boat scene? That and the oompa loompas scared the crap out of me as a kid.

Johnny Depp is slated to play Willy Wonka. I read in Rolling Stone that he will only do it if he can come up with an approach to the character that will be as good, but different, than Gene Wilder.
