    Getting to Bristol Bay??

So I started a thread a while back about fishing in AK for the summer. Through some friends of mine, I've been able to land a fishing job on a gillnetting boat for 6wks in Bristol Bay. Anyone know the best way to get there. I cant find any ferry deals. Any suggestions?

Google tells me that the University of Alaska-Fairbanks has a campus in Bristol Bay. Start there, grasshoppah.

Well where are you going? Bristol bay is a BIG place

first you fly to anchorage then you'll fly to somewhere like king salmon then take a boat or small plane to where you need to go. I'd ask who you are working for. It'll probably cost you around $400 to get from anchorage to king salmon so book asap. Just getting to the fishing grounds from the lower 48 will probably cost you $1000. What % are you getting btw?

Um there are no ferries there

One way would be to hitch a ride on a tender. Contact canneries that work in egegik and see they have any company boats headed there before the season starts. Is your boat already in egegik? Also ask your skipper if he has any suggestions, or suck it up and fly.

I worked out of Nushegak several years ago. Flew from Anchorage to Dillingham; from there you can hitch a ride on a boat if you loiter around the docks long enough, I suspect. Egegik has the best name of all the places up there. Soon you'll know how to sing Happy Birthday in Upick.
