What you said is very cool and I really appreciate the fact that there are a lot of silent awesome skiers out there lurking. I post less and less anymore. There's just not time.
Yeah, because you're out there climbing and ski-descending all this cool shit while the rest of us are here toiling away at our jobs....well, kind of....actually more like wasting our time hanging out on the web all day while stuck out our place of employment.

    edit: page top!

This reminds me of the issue of "at what point can I say I am from Colorado" or "at what point can I start bitching about all the people moving to Colorado" since, of course, I was not born here and did not grow up here. It seems odd, then, to bitch about all of the people moving here... but at some point, when I don't know, you morph into a "local" and bitching seems ok.

I think it's kinda funny that Blurred was the ONLY reason I came here from Powdermag. And that I came significantly after the "exodus" (which I guess means I'm not really a maggot because I wasn't part of it in the beginning).

Two good years here tells me this place is about skiing "in all its aspects" as Sage says (with some emphasis on skiing powder and big mountain lines and getting low in the carve ), meeting people to do that stuff with, sharing experiences about that stuff, and about helping out one's fellow internet nerd (there are LOTS of people on here who do some really cool things for people they've never met). If you do any of these things regularly, my JONG opinion is that you are a maggot but that you must absolutlely reserve some significant respect for those who helped to ESTABLISH this community. But just because they established it doesn't mean there aren't others here who appreciate it and contribute to it just like they do (think 17th century America).

My statement becomes much less applicable in the summer.

And Danno: I've wondered that, too. I caught myself saying "go back home" (not "go back to school") in reference to Boulder several weeks ago. Wonder when it's right to actually call it home. Actually said (a little sarcastically) to some people at a party that I'm "from Colorado" a few days ago. Wonder if this is true...

This all reminds me of a song by the TUBES..

    T U B E S - L Y R I C S

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I Was A Punk Before
    You Were A Punk
    Spooner/Evans/Waybill

It was a little city by the Bay
We drove our truck a long way there to play
We had a lot of things to think about
It didn't take too long to figure out
We never dreamed that it all would come true
Never thought that we'd have to tell you
But if you ain't found out we're definitely cool

We wrote a song about some local boys
Who had Ferrari's as their favorite toys
And their music gave their lives some hope
And their music was White Punks On Dope
We wish we could be just like them
But they didn't want to be friends
'Cause their lifestyle got scarred from living too hard

I was a punk before you were a punk
You don't believe me? Just step outside and see me baby
I was a punk before you were a punk
You want some action? I'll put your ass in traction baby
I was a punk before you were
I was a punk before you
I was a punk before you were
I was a punk before you

We were a joke at our own record label
They told us, "Make a record, if you're able"
They told us not to take too many chances
And we pissed away our big advances
The producer we got was a jerk
but White Punks was one song that worked
It was shot in the dark that just missed the mark

We were surprised when it caused all this rage
and they wouldn't let us take the stage
We knew we had a lot of what it takes
But we didn't get the lucky breaks
Now it's all such a great big fuss
and they all seem to copy just us
We never got reimbursed for the punks that were first

I was a punk before you were a punk
You don't believe me? Just step outside and see me baby
I was a punk before you were a punk
You want some action? I'll put your ass in traction baby
I was a punk before you were
I was a punk before you
I was a punk before you were
I was a punk before you

    Actually, yeah. Exactly.

I've know him now for a lot of years. He's shown me a shitload of cool lines and I've tried my best to return the favor - like his sweet pillow set from this year. The best line I've seen skied on this forum. He taught me to love hucking. Really love it. He got me to throw front flips on Vail Pass and he's the reason I'm gonna get backs this coming year. He taught me to concentrate on skiing smooth for the camera so every shot is good and video is good. I don't know anyone that skis smoother or steadier without any herky jerky bs. He yells at me when I suck. If I decide to compete in big mountain next year he's gonna coach me. He's the one that told me I had to start skiing in bounds - I've been skiing solely for untracked turns for many hundreds of days before this past season with the kiddies. So he got me into the PSIA system which is changing my skiing (I hope for the better, but I'm kinda skeered.) I learned to really ski in the backcountry. Now I'm actually buying into skiing ruts one day a week next year instead of exploring with a sled or working on park stuff or any of the other things I would much rather do. Well, I'm gonna do that too.

He's my mentor and I'm proud to say that's true.

Anyhoo, I just want to say again that I like almost all the new people on the forum. Those that I've met that have treated me with courtesy and respect. The rest of you - I want to meet you and ski with you and be friends for sure. This place is a family and it's a happy thing.

Max, I've told you before - I was the worst jong EVER and it took me over a year to fix it. And a lot of skiing. And a lot of listening. And cutting the post count in half.

And you still need to cut the word count in half - with every post!

You may bug me sometimes, but I realize you're a kid, and a smart one. Like Werkel - he annoys me so much at times but he's really become a brother to me. So I'm guessing everything is gonna turn out fine.

Q: How do you catch a polar bear?

A: First you cut a hole in the ice, then you sprinkle peas around it, and when the bear comes to take a pee, you kick him in the icehole!

Sorry. But you should hear it from my niece, she tells it much better!

While I don't post that much anymore (started long ago on Powder...)

I feel Maggot is a state of mind. It's not about the gear or how high the huck - it's about love - the smell of hot wax - the crunch of corn snow, the feel of icicles on your beard - that wonderful feeling of being tired and excited after a great day - ultimately.... it's about the people and the experience of mountain life.

    Am I a Maggot - DAMN STRAIGHT!

pylon #1 asked: what constitutes a maggot.

It is a being that feeds off of another. What, is it not fucking true?

And here I thought you were more open-minded than the rest, however blurred speaks volumes about your kind. Guess I should have printed my reply in bold, using Crayons so you could follow, or maybe understand.

yer such a fucking 'tard - I knew I could get that homophobe in yah to speak loudly. Fucker, I was merely answering your dumb ass fucking question.

    Keep the H8 alive!

p.s. I oh, I am sorry, you said producer. Well than, you definitely are not speaking @ me!

WOW, comparing legal acts to illegal acts is so like the retort I expected from the likes of you --- way to think outside the box! Guess you just ran out of wit.

To answer your question, I do not fear any legal act, so long as there is consent. Since animals cannot give consent I cannot condone the action. If the animal could speak and he/she said he/she does not mind being nailed by a human, what should I care?
But hey, I am sure you'll find faults in that & you'll whip out the you fag "insults" (I'd have to be to care). Or maybe you'll really reach and you'll accuse me of pushing CP.

Tell yah what: go to church tonight and ask your preacher what they think. I am sure they'll provide you with an age-old response, like god says it's wrong, or the bible states..

after all, if you don't agree with it IT must be wrong!

Person 'A' does not have a real job & a ton of bills, but loves the sport of riding on snow.
Person 'B' has a job, money and gear.

'B' does not like to see 'A' be denied (the act of gliding), so 'B' gives his old gear to 'A'. 'B' offers 'A' ('C', 'D'..) a ride to the hills. 'B' gives their time to show 'A' the ropes, rather than just dumping them and forcing them to figure things out. Quite often, a full day is spent.

    'A' is a parasite!
    'B' is a host!

What, did creationism not touch on this, or is it one of their forgotten sciences.

Skiers remind me of musicians in many ways. Most think they are the hottest thing around, when in reality they are about on par with everyone else. They all try to milk all the fun out of the fun. Colorado skiers are the worst, I think. Very territorial.
Fighting leads to killing, and killing gets to warring. And that was damn near the death of us all.
