I can ride dirt roads no problem and even some mellow logging roads est.. Lets see what the weather does.. Will send you a pm when the date gets closer. You think we could get permisson to ride up Magic (work roads)? Maybe even help with some trail work. Pretty sure there will be a crew up working that day. Just a thought..

I need to get a better picture but you get the idea. '07 250F. Picked it up this afternoon.

And don't worry, that storage location is only for an hour.

Say hello to my little friend. Bought her a year old in 2002. She's a Trophy 900, great for touring, and she lays over quite nicely too. We've put on lots of miles together. Sadly next season will be my last, going to sell her at the end (or middle) of the riding season next year (need cash for a year off). Soooo if you like her....

So...looking for some feedback from some mags....I am thinking of selling my Harley.

I bought a 2009 Street Glide last year, thinking I would take a bunch of long trips...well, that had not happened and I am not sure any trips longer than a day or two are going to become common place. The bike has less than 3,000 miles on it.

I just don't enjoy commuting on it or taking it for short rides. It is great for longer rides, but anyhow.

So I am looking for something better around town that won't be a bear to take on short weekend trips and will be fun to commute on and ride around town.

I am thinking about a Triumph Thruxton. The new ones don't have clip-ons any more and seem to be pretty cumfy and are now fuel injected. I am also looking at the GT-1000.

I like the modern classic look and the cafe racer style (done moderately so it is still comfortable). Any other bikes I should look at? Am I dumb for selling the Harley?

you're never dumb for selling a harley!

where are you? Golden BC or CO?
I might be selling a 2006 Buell xb12s lightning. not super comfy on the highway (no fairing, seat's not the best, only a 5 speed so if you're cruising at 90 mph the motor is running pretty high), i'm usualy grateful that the range is only around 125 miles. but its a super fun around town bike, great for commuting and short runs on the twisties. I'm not sure if it's got a 'modern classic' or 'cafe' look, but they are pretty distinctive looking bikes that attract attention. It's still a harley motor under all that, so throw a D&D pipe on it and the harley boys will think you're one of them until they see you.

not me or my bike, but same model and color:

I am in CO. The pic is not working...but I am not really interested in something that fast...I would kill myself for sure!

And as for selling a Harley...I do love the bike and runs great....just not great in traffic and around town. I don't want to go to a "cookie cutter" crotch rocket either.

here's another, let's see if this works

    http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photo...ningXB12Sb.jpg

one thing i like about the bike is it's not really all that fast. but VERY quick. top speed 5th gear redline is around 135, so you're never tempted to see if it will go 160 - 180. I can't hang with the sport bikes once the speeds start getting much over 90. but with the low end grunt and the torque from that harley v-twin, i can beat most anyone off the line or out of a corner. if you're not careful the front wheel can come up pretty easy though.

    Nice pictures froggy.

I went to the dealer Saturday to test ride bikes and they had three of the bike I wanted in storage and made me a deal I could not refuse.

So I ended up with a new red Thruxton. They ordered my some parts as well, so as soon I hit 500 miles and it goes in for service (at 200 now...hopefully the weather stays warm for a couple more weeks!), it will have the following installed:

Rear fender eliminator with under tail brake light (no more turn signals for this bike)
Full Icon suspension (rear shokes have aluminum bodies, black springs)
Black 2 into 1 exhaust (cut about 10 LBS off the bike)
    Airbox removal etc.

Service guy says they are seeing 15 to 20% power increase...then add in the weight savings, and it should be a pretty different bike.

I will post pics after this first series of stuff is done. Turning the bike into a classic TT/cafe racer is going to be my winter project.

Does anyone know a good painter in Denver? I need to have a retro set of number plates hand painted to replace the side panels...kind of going for something along these lines:

This is probably the wrong thread for this, but just to get the word out before I find a barter thread, but any scooter riders out there? I have a really rare one that makes Vespa owners drool. It's a liquid cooled 50cc 2 stroke (on the title, 70cc in real life), w/ an aftermarket pipe, 2 single sided swingarms (front and rear), 2 disc brake, Italjet Dragster that goes 60+mph. It has a red, ducati inspired trellis frame and a black body. I know all you guys are probably speed freaks, but for the economical commuter, there's nothin better than a scooter. It's about a 7.5/10 condition wise. Literally about 50 miles on the new engine. I need new snow tires and skis, so this has to go. I've seen them sell for over $5k in Cali during a good economy, so I'll say I'd like $2k and will take the first 15 $100 bills that reach my porch. I would probably even trade for skis. I want Spatulas, Praxis Powderboards, Motherships, DPS Lotus 120's, Kastle MX 88's, Lhasa Pows, and many more. I would also trade instantly for a decent DRZ 400, Suzuki SV 650, or Honda VFR, yes, an old one.

Been a while since I've checked into this thread, but felt the need to after my little romp on Saturday- decided to take the gixxah to my buddy's wedding while wearing my pinstripe suit. I'm guaranteeing there was at least one person that thought james Bond passed them. Always wanted to do that.

Great pics fastfrog! Love the ones when the weather is coming in. Keep it up!

    Derek,

Dan, Alan, and myself are tentatively planning on joining you. Where are we riding?

Assuming we ride in Utah and somewhere relatively close.

I hope the San Rafael, if the weather is ok. If it's too cold, as in riding temps in the 30's, then I'll go to St. George.

Yeah, we were thinking you said San Rafael. Let's keep our eyes on the weather until then.
