Apple refurb can mean anything from warranty return to somebody opened the wrapper and decided it was the wrong color -- from what i understand... Carries the full warranty, so why not?

I've bought a handful of refurb apple stuff from powerbooks to iBooks to iPods. Never an issue, full warranty, and the same Genius Bar benefits.

I got a 20gig refurb bout a year ago. Bought it straight from apple. Haven't had any problems whatsoever.

My gf bought a refurbished ibook, and it's had to have its harddrive and finally its lcd waranteed. but she has this funny habit of dropping shit on the floor (on her 3rd power cord), so I'm not certain the computer being refurbished had anything to do with the failures.

She is that one person in 300 for whom 'extended warranty' is a good idea.

That explains Apple's new breakaway power cord.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.
