    Ek....testing the Water: 184 Capital El Jefe w/ s916s

I've skied these now 4 times and just haven't really clicked.

I've also fallen in love with my Kwood midfats and am extremely broke right now....

So, I guess I'm thinking of selling them.

    They are:

184cm (closer to 182cm tip to tail)
    130/105/120
Stiff (I would say 250 on the iggy scale, maybe a tad more in the tail)
    Full Twin
    Maple/aspen core
Construction is very beefy. As, if not a bit more, beefy are iggies (just not as fine).
Mounted for 301mm boot with s916s zzLabs
camber - no camber with actually a slight rocker tip and tail (about .5cm per ski)
Great shape. Like I said only skied 4 times. They need a grind to get rid of some of the flat spots in the base.

for the moment this is really just testing the water.

I paid $780 total for the skis, hoping to get that back (with s916s) + shipping.

if anyone is interested PM or email skiups9@gmail.com and we can discuss. I really want to love these skis but they are just a bit short and stiff for everyday in the PNW. Plus...I think I am in love with my Kingswoods.

The empire isn't falling. Don't worry. It will work out.
I am picking up a Kwood midfat this summer, and DP L138 next year. I will be ok. I see a capital or possibly another iggy in my distant future....

Regarding the base, the tech who mounted them described them as flat spots....

don't know if that is what it is refered too. The base isn't perfectly level. It has some spots where it is higher and lower. It is easy to see those spots when waxing.

Tech said a grind would fix it. I think this was a similar issue expirenced by 1st year bros, no?

but if im paying ~$800 for skis id expect the bases and edges to be perfect from the factory.

    anyway
hope these skis goto a good home
sorry to see you sell them after how stoked I remember you were in the thread you started when they arrived

They are hand made. edges are perfect. bases needs a little work. I am not complaining. These skis are ridiculously beefy, more so than my FFFs.

Yeah....it was kind of a sad realization that they weren't exactly what I wanted. They are a lot stiffer, particularly in the tips, then I expect. I went with medium in the tips, which is supposed to be gotama-ish...and these are very stiff in the tips and throughout the ski...I just wish they werent short too.....

it is ok though. I really really am happy with my Kwood midfats. I have regulars mounted AT right now and enjoy them alot. A midfat extra mounted alpine seems like it will be what i want. So while these skis aren't working out, I am very stoked on the Kwoods.

so your 185 KWood regular skis that much bigger than your "medium stiff" 184 ElJefe that you would want to mount an extra stiff in alpine?

Wondering for myself to see if I really want to do a summer order on one of their skis, and also to make sure you end up on the right length\stiffness ski.

My 185 Kwoods right now are regular flex. Too soft for everyday alping for me. The extra would be perfect. The 185 Kwood regular isnt a bigger feeling ski than the El Jefe, but with added stiffness it would be what I want.

I am basising my love on kwoods with the shape and core. I love the rebound of the bamboo. and I enjoy the shape length.

The 184 El Jefe do ski pretty long. My issue is that, with the stiffness of these skis and the shorter length, they will not be fun in anything soft in the PNW. If I were in CO or Utah I don't think this would be an issue, but having a tip that can stay above the snow in WA is important.

The EL Jefe and Midfat overlap alot...I guess I would just prefer the longer, slightly softer version of the two.
