Amen. Unfortunately we will be finding out the true realities of how limited we actually are when it comes to dealing with Iran. Maybe if dubya's war keeps up like it is, Iran and Iraq will become great friends. The funny thing is is that they hated each other before the war started.

    The seasons of TGR

    1) South of the Equator Skiing Stoke Season
    2) Early Powder Stoke Season
    3) Late Powder/Slush bumps Stoke Season
    4) Political Flaming Season

Glad to see somethings never change.

Oh and if you voted for Bush/Cheney twice you better be either rich or a religious conservative because the only other category you would fit under is fool.

The problem stems from the fact that these nation's borders were drawn up by English imperialists slicing and dicing up the world map centuries ago. That's why there are shiites, sunni's, and kurds in iraq, rather than three countries called Shiiteistan, Sunniville, and Kurdistan or whatever.

So we can really blame the British for this mess in the middle east. (edit - and Africa, too!)

Why aren't we bombing the shit out of Sudan?
you want to see a mess? getting involved in sudan will make iraq look like a preschool picnic

The reason why he would do well to run for the presidency now is that he lacks a voting record that could be used against him.
Thats a hell of an endorsement for a presidential candidate

Why? Or are you just regurgitating some catchy shit from Fox News?

Seems like they're as (or more) guilty of the same atrocities as Saddam.

Well, it looks like the world is unimpressed with our response to Iran, oil selling off. Israleis have had no comment. No special security council meeting called, looks like Iran win's for now.

Israel bombed Iran (or was it Iraq?) 20+ years ago when that country was attempting to develop nuclear technology. It was a tactical strike that took out the research site. I don't know how much they've (the Israelis) changed politically since then, but they're certainly watching this unfold with a keen interest.

You might be right Tip. I think generally speaking Iran has long been the more serious threat. And all though we are now closer to them, the war in Iraq has/is putiing us in a weaker position. Hate Bush for that. We might not be up to it and we have little support from China and Russia, both of which do a lot of business in Iran and once in Iraq as well. And any thought of projecting force has been hampered by our troops in Iraq being so close and exposed.

Thats why this Iranian dude is talking such a big game, we hamstringed ourselves with Iran by going into Iraq. At least that appears to be the situation. i cannot rule out what Bush or the Israelis will do, you just never know.

I think a more interesting thread would be:

If you voted for Bush - please explain your reasoning with a clear, concise and logical statement. If you voted for Kerry - please provide the same.

Very true. Hamas is one of the largest 'humanitarian' providers in Palestine. Excusing them from killing innocent people because they build hospitals and schools is pretty asinine, though.

Again, it's nice that you're pointing out that our country has some pretty fucked up policy being implemented right now. But you really just come across as an apologist for muslim terrorists. Do you believe that there is NO threat that requires ANY action from the US, regarding fundamentalist Islamic terrorism?

And IIRC Reagan got pissed at the Israelis because we were backing Iraq in the war against Iran.... you remember - the one in which Saddam gassed "his own people" with munitions we helped him get. Nevermind that those people were fighting against him on the side of the Iranians.

And when was the last time they claimed a terrorist bombing? Please go look it up.

I have posted this before but I am going to do it again...

21 Ways to be a Good Democrat

    1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.

    2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.

    3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese and North Korean communists.

    4. You have to believe that there was no Art before Federal funding.

    5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical documented changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's.

    6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural.

    7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.

    8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

    9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but urban activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do.

    10. You have to believe that having self-esteem is more important than self-respect or actually doing something to earn it.

    11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money to make The Passion Of The Christ for financial gain only.

    12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it attacks certain parts of the Constitution.

    13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

    14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison.

    15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.

    16. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal and is a very nice person, and she really loves Bill.

    17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.

    18. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail, but a liar and a sex offender belonged in the White House.

    19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

    20. You have to believe that illegal Democratic Party funding by the Chinese government is somehow in the best interest to the United States. But, complain, that all of our jobs are going out of America to China ?

    21. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right wing conspiracy.

    Just for balance.

Things you have to believe to be a Republican today:

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing UN resolutions against Iraq.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense.

A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness, and you need our prayers for your recovery.

You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

Anyways, commonlaw, when are we going to get together and do some skiing? I think the chairlift discussions would be pretty awesome.
