I'm sure you will be too, particularly given the forecast:

    Mt. Rose 4-17-2006 POWDER

As you may have heard, it snowed around Tahoe the past couple days.

I hit Mt. Rose this morning, it was one of the best powder days I have had all year.
The conditions were, Sunny app 20 Deg F. No wind, Knee to Thigh deep powder.
Here is a picture while stuck on the chair.
    The Chutes after avy control.

A shot from the East side Chair 9:45AM Farming the Groomers (UN-GROOMED)

After first Chair, there were no lines. When the Chutes opened there was a line for the Chuter Chair on my second Lap. Zephyr Chair did not even put up Ropes. The East side still had untracked out in the tree's even after noon.

There were allot of people there but only the usual suspects hitting the powder. The Snow was GREAT! I think it even skied better in the chutes after it had been tracked. The snow was too soft to set so it was soft sluff, sometimes waist deep. FAST AND FUN>

Rose has treated me really well this year. In case anyone didn't notice they are raising the pass price from $300 to $350 (if bought in sept). I think this is fair and hopefully it will influence some people to buy the Double Whammy pass at N* instead.

This morning @ Rose was AWESOME!! I was on 6th chair...4 chairs from getting off when Northwest broke down for 20 minutes...chairs #1 & #2 got off before the lift stopped and those lucky bastards had the slide side to themselves for 3 runs or so!!

After 4 or 5 slide side runs I stumbled on my buddy Will and we proceeded to shoot down to beehive....there was a crew waiting for the rope drop but we saw that they opened the upper gates so we ducked the rope and had just an amazing epic run....followed by another...and another....and another...and another...

MTT I saw you from the lift at one point but we were apparently on the same pace so we never crossed paths...

...perfect weather, perfect snow....couldn't ask for a better Monday morning

wow. when i looked at that 1st pic i thought it'd be from the bc across the street. amazing the way all the turns are sorta farmed respecting all the other tracks. down here in s shore resorts its always a free for all w/ the mandatory snowbarder tracks traversing back and forth across the whole slope. rose must be one of those more civilized resorts eh?

Nice photos MTT. I'm pretty sure that's me farming those turns on Bonanza lookers right on your second photo. I rolled over when it was about that tracked and decided to farm for the next guy.

I was on the third chair and had to watch those lucky SOB's take 3 f'n runs while we watched. We were 15 feet from the exit. Only 12 people for 3 GD runs!!. One of them was a buddy of mine who said it was the most surreal experience he's had while lift served skiing.

It was an amazingly cool day. Better than powder skiing should be on April 17th. I hollered at you MTT while you were at the top of Charge. I rolled on by on my board. The snow under Charge was surprisingly scarcely tracked after 3 runs in the Chutes .

Chute opening was kinda cool this morning. They opened EL Cap and Yellowjacket as I was going by so I shot to the lower gates. They were still closed! I pulled up to Hornet's Nest with about 6 other people. The person right at the gate says he's droppin' the gate, about 3 of us told him to do it. First one down skiers far right of Hornets Nest, FANTASTIC.

While today was very good, I'll take yesterday with untracked all afternoon. This past two months have been the best powder riding in a long, long time.

Living in Nevada is mighty FINE!!!!!

Does all this mean that California is NOT gonna burn this summer as usual...?
