I do like to straight line though, I hope the JP's suffice.

As far as mounting, I really told the tech what I wanted, that I didn't want to be too far forward hence having the tips dive. Told him how people (TGR forums...) said to mount further back than the line. Showed me where JP has his mounted which is pretty much dead center. I even told him how I feel my MSP's which are at the "freeride" line still feel too far forward... He strongly recommended the furthest back factory line. He insisted. I'm a little leary, but I went with it. They look alright though, definately noticable more tip than tail... ???
The ANTs aren't that much heavier than the JPs...they are actually very light.

Don't ever let some shop guy tell you where to mount your shit.
I've got more suits than Liberace, but less than Eastvailhucker.

Have you picked up the two side by side? The ANT's are beasts compared.. JP's are feather light. But that's why their so soft also.

Starting to consider giving the JP's to the guy who just bought them, and then keeping the ANT's and having them mounted.

right on both counts. Armada's product line is mostly so jib-oriented that their factory mid-sole lines are WAY forward. Vicious went something like -2 or 2.5 on his ant's and i started there and ended up goin farther back to -4ish. especially if the Vs. is your pow specific quiver ski, you definitely want to be farther back.

shop guys generally suck in my experience. gross generalization on that, but i have a free pair of skis and 20% off on another because shop guys monkey'd some SUPER simple shit up when they thought they knew what they were doing.
No, the real point is, I don't give a damn

Oh you did? Anyway, I think I just sold them for $575 w/binding with shipping to New Zealand IF IT ISN'T TOO HIGH. If buyer falls through, they're still up for grabs.

BTW, Skied the JP's today at Alta on about 3-4 inches of dust on crust. Even though the conditions weren't the best, I love these skis. I am so fast on them, pretty much point them straight making a few huge turns. No-one I was with could keep up. Should be a ton of fun on a real deep day. What I can't understand was that they are soooo slow on anything flat, I waxed them pretty good and they just don't want to slide at all on the traverses without constant polling. ???

You guys were right, they look a bit centered. Should have listened, but as long as they don't dive, I don't mind. If they do, I'll be talking to that shop tech... (who guaranteed they won't)

Do you or anyone else have an idea why they would be sooooo slow on anything flat? I know they are big skis, but they were ridiculous. I did a real careful job waxing them, brushed thhem good, bases look good, still do. My freind waxed his with the same wax and he was flying past me. It was a warmer snow wax; probably the wrong wax for the conditions, but still, I've never seen wax make that big of a difference.

Is it that they simply need to be "ski'd in" more?

    Just a little puzzling.

probably need to grind the bases a bit. cut into the material. they'll absorb wax better then.

That's what I was thinking, ddon't really want to pay to have them stone ground right now. Think they'll... ah naturally stone grind?
