I think you could make serious money with a 24hr online 'booger cam'. People could log on from anywhere in the world to see the current state of your crustaceous greebos. That's my suggestion.

    Sharp

    Sharp 2

These cameras are bomber, I have one (that I got off ebay) and its held up well over the last 2 years. I don't use it in rough conditions all that often, but it is very sturdy. The zoom is great, and so isnt the zoom microphone. You can pick up a firewire for $15, plug it into your computer, and download the stuff quickly. You can also hook this thing right up to your TV.

Sharp doesn't make em anymore though, but that doesn't really mean anything.

(there area a whole bunch of these on ebay)

My Canons (used to have an Ultura but no analog in, required for helmet cam...currently using a ZR45) have been pretty darn reliable (knock on wood). They've been through some tough conditions (Porcupine Rim mtn biking in Utah, bunch of days on the slopes) and are doing ok...the ZR45 is starting to "stripe" the footage, which is interesting. I'm gonna try a cleaning tape and see if it helps.

yep, its just that firewire (the name) is copyrighted by apple, so you have to pay to use the name. Sony's i.link is the same creature as well.

I got my digi camcorder from these guys http://www.digitalfotoclub.com
Got the Canon zr65mc from them for $364. Looks like they bumped the prices a little bit, but you might be able to just wait a few weeks for some sort of sale. It's a great camera and can take some digital stills(although the quality is not great). It has an av in/out for headcams and such. Hooks up to your USB port easily. So my advice is buy off the internet, and be sure of one thing. Make sure to buy the US model...NOT THE EUROPEAN OR JAP model!! these will come without batteries and sometimes without even the lense! Check the dealer through yahoo or like bizrate. If they have shitty ratings there is a reason. Hope that helps.
