    Powder Subscriptions Problems

Are hopefully going to end. After many months of mucking it up in the corners and getting bloody, it seems our transfer to a real fullfilment house is nearing completion. This is the word I got from the Brass in NYC, after a short e-mail exchange regarding a maggot's problem with his subscription:

    Derek,
Believe me, I know the damage that Neodata has done with all of our titles. You would be amazed in the short time that Snowboarder, Skateboarder and Bike have been at PCD and the results we have seen on customer service complaints - all complaints are answered in a timely manner and if not they are then forwarded to Mike who in turn forwards them to my attention. Unfortunately, Powder was the last to leave Neodata. Powder moves the entire file to PCD next week, so it has been hard for PCD to do any calls or complaints.
I promise you will see a huge difference in the next few months.
    Thanks for your understanding.
Feel free to contact me in the future with any questions or concerns
    Thanks!
    Meghan

So... if any of you are still having trouble, starting next week, send complaints to:

    Powder@palmcoastd.com; 800-289-8983.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Thumbs up

Pretty cool that the Sr. Editor takes huge chunks out of his workdays to help readers get their mags and merchandise. Considering it's not even his job to do that and all. KD looks after his own. It's good to be on KD's side.

    .......

The more Dineen thought about Lemieux going high to the glove side on Mike Liut in overtime of Game 7 of the 1986 Adams Division finals, the angrier he got. The more he thought about Lemieux leading the Devils past his Flyers in the 1995 conference finals, the more frustrated he grew. He couldn't take it anymore.

"I go, `C'mon Claude, drop the gloves. For old time sake,'" Dineen said. "I wanted to even the score a little."

    "I can't," Lemieux answered.

    "Why not?" Dineen said.

At this point, Dineen begins to mimic Lemieux's French accent.

    "I have 24 stee-iches in zee hand."

Lemieux didn't take off his glove to prove it, and a Coyotes media relations spokesman said he was unaware of Lemieux's lacerated hand. For purposes of Whalers legend, the inquest must stop there. The fable has more texture if we don't know whether Lemieux, the great provocateur, was playing hurt or playing chicken.

"Besides," Dineen said, laughing, "it's my story."

Dineen's 1,188-game story ended Sunday on his terms. With 1:46 left in Columbus' 3-2 victory over Buffalo, Dineen, 39, smiled all the way to the penalty box, blood flowing from a cut around his eye that would need three stitches to close.

Feb doesn't hit the stands until Jan 27. Subs are supposed to start shipping on Jan 12. So I'd say Feb. 1, and you can start yer bitchin'

Feb looks thin, but the good news from your perspective is, ad sales were so tight that we actually got more content in that issue than some of our thicker ones. Very cool Pierre profile, and Splat has a sweet feature on Poland.

Yes, Bossass is in boot camp. He's being force-fed shots of cheap bourban and pelted in the face with snowballs while Super G stands over him yelling like a drill sargeant. "Drink up, Maggot! Here comes another face shot!!"

Hyasawhatchyamacallit, I have no idea what Meghan looks like. I only know that she's one of the wigs in the NY office, and that she probably makes enough to buy me and sell me to FREEZE at a loss, without affecting her 401k.

    "Perk" on, Britney. Perk on!

Oh, and your sig reminds of this German guy I met in a bar in Hollywood last fall.

Helmut: "I ski in zee Bogner."

KD: "Bogner... That's good stuff, man!"

Helmut: "Ya, it's a little more expensive, but it's worth it. Just like ah cars! hahaha!"

So Mr. Dineen what about us contributors, that are suppose to have subs. ? I haven't received one mag all year, other than the one issue I had photos in, that Reddick sent me a couple of copies of.

That's an entirely different issue, pygler. That's a comp list issue, which has also been fucked. We're working on fixing that as well. Keep this in mind, though: a lot of mags don't give free subs to their contributors. When i was writing for ESPN the Mag, I asked to be put on the comp list, and was told there was no comp list for contributors, and furthermore, if I wanted to continue to contribute, it was strongly recommended that I buy a subscription pronto. (I did, and got a free ESPN the Magazine fleece, which I gave to my dad for Christmas; yes, i am a cheap bastard).

I've been reading about Powder subscription problems for years.
It seems like every few months Powder comes out and says, we've finally fixed the problem!!!....I've been reading this bullshit for 3 fucking years!

edit: by they way, the community we "fucked up" seems to be doing just fine over here. Quit crying and get on with your life.

In a few months people will be bitching about there issue not showing up again, and someone from Powder will say shit is being fixed. I'd archive the history of Powder saying their shit was fixed, but you guys erased the history of this community over there.http://forum.powdermag.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi This has ALWAYS been a problem....

Kevin, you've always been cool, but I've read that shit about everything being fixed way too many times. It's not a personal attack against you, it just reminds me of "The boy who cried Wolf" too many times.

OK, I could live with that, if you just tell me up front, but...it just seems funny that I've had this comp sub for years and years and now it seems to have fizzled. I also think that somehow by me buying a sub, I'm gunna get more photos published, is a little far fetched...but hey, with my record in the last few years anythings worth a try

Did you archive your own post that you just edited? For the record (and archive this), I never said sub problems had been fixed. If you noticed, I included a "hopefully" this time. I only said that I was working hard on it. And I'm not promising anything this time, but I did include the exact response I got from corporate, which to me is promising. And I provided two outlets for you to go through to get your issues fixed. If that doesn't work, everyone on this board can get my e-mail by going to Powder's 'contact us' page, and I hope everyone knows they are free to contact me at any time. If anyone is still having problems come next volume, I want to hear about it; that's why I'm posting here, and why I continue to post about this here and at powdermag.

If you knew the shit I put up with to fix this shit (like being told "not now, Kevin!" in a meeting, right in front of our new CEO) you wouldn't be saying shit to me. I know it's wrong, and I know what happened over at powdermag.com is wrong. If it were my own personal business, this would never happen. The fact is, it isn't. I treat it like it is, because like many of you, I've been reading Powder since I was a kid. But the fact is I don't have control over many of the things I would fix first. I just hope you all have faith that those of us at Powder are trying as hard as we can to give you all what you deserve.
