    Moab / Fat Tire / April 27-30

So Ski Monkey and I are planning on heading down to Moab the last weekend of April, something like the 27th - 30th. I looked online and can't find the info (website down or the like), but I've heard rumor that the Fat Tire Festival is that weekend. Anyone have info?

If that is the case, do we need to reserve campgrounds? Anyone else want to go down for a weekend of UPS?

Also, any ideas on what to do with a dog if no one is able to stay and take him hiking (while we're biking of course)? We're thinking a pup tent or 3-sided shelter for him, stake him out in camp, but aren't sure if that's a good solution or not. Ideas? I left a message at the doggy daycare down there, has anyone used them?

Thanks, and who's in for a Moab trip?

Fruita's Fat Tire Festival is those dates. I don't think the Moab festival is until October, but I could be wrong.

I want to head down there sometime in late April, but it's gonna depend entirely on skiing conditions, and the weather in Moab.

I am highly tentative for April 21-23...as bag said, weather/skiing dependent.

The fat tire fest is on in Fruita that weekend. In Moab there is a car show happening so it's gonna be busy there too.

I think I'll be down there that weekend.

Don't the AG's just leave their dog somewhere in the shade with a bowl of water?

It'll be crowded but you can probably find a spot at slickrock if you can get up there on Thursday. Plus I would assume the AG's spot where they usually stay would be good.

Yeah, they do that on occasion. Our dog has a habit of chewing leashes though, and wandering off. Yeah a chain might work too, but still just looking at the options. Grin. Also just out to round up a group of some sort.

CS, maybe get some climbing in too? Is it warm enough for that then? Mmmmm. Though, I haven't climbed in forever, pretty much gave it up for biking. Sigh. Wait, you know that. Anyway....

I'd be down for that. Hit up Potash. Although, in all honesty, I'm about to remove climbing from the resume. I just have so much more fun riding a bike....

Heh. Yeah - you need one of those plastic coated steel cable tie-outs like we have.

Hopefully we can join you. Nice seeing you today!

utsnowgirl and I will be down there that weekend. Probably more down for XC style than downhill since it'll be the first real rides of the year for us. I may bring the bighit for some light play'n though.

Her family will be down there that weekend too for some 4 wheel Jeep'n madness, so we may do that a bit too. They have some pretty serious machines.

Also, that's car show weekend. Doesn't affect camping or trails really, but makes the restaurants and town crazy.

21-23 is closing weekend at Brighton, same for Alta, so I figure I’ll probably be there instead of biking.

Sweet, sounds like a pretty decent size group! SM and I are thinking of heading down Thursday morning, setting up camp, hiking w/the dog, then playing around on slickrock or the like. Then UPS Friday, Saturday, and perhaps something else Sunday before cruising back. Hanging out, campfires, grilling, playing around climbing possibly, nothing serious. (CS, biking is a curse, it's true, stole me away from climbing too....)

Yeah, I found the info on Fruita, not in Moab! Crossed wires in the info I got I guess.

And bring the big AND little bikes, mixed riding, good times!

Plastic coated wire, sounds pretty solid. If I hear back from the doggie daycare place too, maybe we'll take him there once or twice, for the long rides. Connie, Good to see you yesterday too!

    Getting excited....
